I had heard it wasn’t true, either, but then easily found this: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/kris-kristofferson-last-outlaw-poet-ethan-hawke-interview-714098/ Is it party true/ partly fiction? But yeah, great story and I like the way I tell it the best;)

His Sam Peckinpah song was both moving & hilarious...and the full cut of Heaven's Gate is a masterpiece, Deer Hunter is not, those are facts; come on Bret: Deer Hunter is a schmaltzy epic, which is well-made, but not at all great...made by a retard who somehow mustered up one masterpiece, but that was Heaven's Gate... unlike a certain 1979 war film which more accurately captured the feeling of the conflict, which somehow lost Best Picture, despite the far greater artistic merit...still, nothin' wrong with The Deer Hunter winning, and Kramer vs. Kramer is still solid...it just ain't Apoc, which is THE GREATEST FILM EVER...anyway, RIP Kris 😂😂👍👍

I was fortunate to see him in concert with Merle Haggard. Hell of a show. They each did separate sets, then did some songs together.

Well I woke up Sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn’t hurt… Grew up listening to that song, still my favorite of so many, Kris is in heaven but thank God his music stays with us

I always have to stop what I'm doing and sit down when Kris comes on the radio.

What a legend… Blade couldn’t have done it without him

Daniel Liu

KK prior to song/film fame: Pomona College BA, Rhodes Scholar, Oxford MA, Army Officer. He served our country honorably. A solid man to his core.

What a guy

An amazing songwriter and a great actor. One of those carved out of stone American stories. You should seek out one of his best friends, Chris Gantry, to talk about his legacy if you can Bret. He's easy to reach. They go all the way back to that wild turning point in Nashville in the mid to late 1960s. Best friends with Kris and Shel Silverstein - all of them ran with Johnny Cash. Chris is an awesome NY born songwriter and storyteller, and if nothing else it's it's worth listening to the crazy leap he takes between his albums 'Introspection' (1968) and 'Motor Mouth' (1970) back then. Sturdy country folk to mad and inspired country acid-jazz, just like that. So much is interconnected between him, Kris and 1970s movies - with his flashing appearances in 'Cisco Pike' as well as the use of 'The Pilgrim: Chapter 33' in 'Taxi Driver', a song that Kris famously dedicated to him, and so many others.

Great story but not true

James Lawrence

Songwriter is a real fun time if you want to see KK and Willie Nelson dicking around for 90 minutes

James Lawrence

RIP Kris Kristofferson. Will be revisiting ‘Cisco Pike’ this week in tribute. Love that movie.
