Great show!!

Dana Wallace

DNF - dry, too long on his documentaries without explaining what they are about.

James Kennedy

Duh, I got my grizzlies mixed up. So he described Project Grizzly, which I saw as a kid.

Chris S.

That wasn’t Grizzly Man. The guy (and his partner) on that Herzog doc didn’t have special anti-bear clothing/gear.

J Hay

Clu Gulager is, indeed, John Gulager’s dad. They used to be seen at my local Astro Burger. Clu died a couple of years ago, in his 90s. He’s in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

J Hay

Duh-KNEE VILL-nuhv

J Hay

Drank some beer and ate schnitzel!

Jack

What was he saying about a doc he wanted to do... and then described Grizzly Man?

Chris S.

I watched Spermworld after listening to this. Compelling doc and beautifully shot!

Rebecca

Would also be a great casting for True Detective if Nick ever took the helm again.

BrienPiechos

And then one day, for no reason whatsoever, the people of Germany....

BrienPiechos

it is called Straight for Sperm.... gay for pay and straight for sperm!

Poetical Gore

Would be an instant top 5 episode for me. Also Vincent knows a thing or two about DIY sperm donation if you're familiar with his website.

Casey

it is an objectively horrible attempt at an experimental film, and to suggest it is good is a scientific foray into pseudo intellectualism...so you are objectively wrong, regardless of what you say...but nice try 😂😂

Neil G.

They broke up

Happyhead

In sex addicts anonymous they teach you that whenever you’re feeling the urge to see a prostitute just jerk off and the PNC will set in and kill the urge.

Happyhead

The Spanish original is wonderful too.

Thomas Edwards

We'll have to agree to disagree. I love the ending

Alex Waller

The last 20 minutes of the movie are very bad, exposition heavy. What makes the movie interesting is its turn from a totally earnest early ‘00s rom-com (complete with Peter Gabriel cornball soundtrack) into a pretty disturbing psychological horror flick — it’s just that the movie doesn’t really commit to this tonal transformation and resorts to a tacked-on happy, redemptive ending for Cruise. I watched it back to back with Eyes Wide Shut last month, and in that context Vanilla Sky comes off as somehow both really confused and totally obvious.

Chris N

i think they’re rumoured to have fallen out…

Lara

I will fully admit that I used to pronounce Warren Beatty that way as well... until about 10 years ago max hahaha

Reno D.

Yes he brought that up afterward. I wasn't sure if he was serious or not with his pronounciation. I'm so used to hear Villeneuve's name being butchered, I was surprised that Bret got it right the first time

Reno D.

I think Lance was gently poking fun at a YouTuber who genuinely could not pronounce the name and had multiple attempts. Wonderful guest BTW.

James__

Right! Why not?

Marthe Beckers

I think he was mispronouncing it as a joke. Guest said warren Beatty wrong though which was wild.

Stephen

Watched his doc tonight after hearing this. He is super talented.

Nick

Bret saying "Villeneuve" more or less properly and the guest "correcting" him with a pronounciation completely off was quite a reversal of what we're used to 🤣 I had a big laugh.

Reno D.

Why not both?

Patrick

Excited to hear Bret mention the directorial gig is looking likely, with a potential November start. I hope we hear more about the pre-production of "Relapse" in future episodes.

Darren

Excellent guest, again! 🙌

Patrick

Closest a straight guy can get to feeling asexual.

Keith campbell

Please try to have one of the Safdie brothers as a future guest! Would be awesome

Marthe Beckers

I haven't heard his previous episode with Bret, but I'm assuming he was asked there.

John Q. Thompson

Would love to hear from him!

John Q. Thompson

Same. Really need a new, fresh B.E.E. adaptation out there on TV/streaming/film.

John Q. Thompson

Some great doc recos in this and the earlier episode.

Brian James

Good convo

Constantine

am going to listen on my run. will say more later, after my run.

richard owain roberts

Post-nut clarity is very real. Turned down sex many times after nutting because I've lost the lust.

John Q. Thompson

Must be nice.

John Q. Thompson

100% agree

Marthe Beckers

Awesome! The original Lance Oppenheim episode was one of my favorites ever. Excited to listen to this one

Sean Preston

I need shards HBO updates I’m going crazy over here

MB

Haven’t listened yet but just realised Vincent Gallo would be a superb guest

Reservoir Frog

A brilliant film. It’s genuinely ambitious and avant-garde, not sure how he even got to “guilty pleasure”

Moz

“constantly congratulated and thanked profusely for ejaculating” 😂

Ashley

gay for pay and non lesbian for baby....the world is just fine

Poetical Gore

What does he think about the Eagles?

Moz

Vanilla Sky is awesome and a great movie, no need for the "guilty pleasure" qualifier

Alex Waller

56:00 Bret brings up lesbians who go straight to get a baby, an interesting counterpoint to last week’s straight dudes going gay for pay.

Keith campbell

Great guest
