"I LOVE HOW THAT LITTLE GIRL TOOK DOWN BARBIE; SHE TOTALLY TAKES HER DOWN" 😂😂😂😂...THAT LITTLE AOC TWAT IS A LITERALLY AN OVERBLOWN PARODY OF THE WOKE-TARDED SHIT YOU SAY YOU DESPISE...DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT IT EVEN IS, BRET???? HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY THINK THAT WAS A TRUE TAKEDOWN???? GRETA GERWIG DOES CAUSE SHE'S A DITSY TWAT, BUT SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO THINK...HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY THINK THIS????? 😂😂😂😂😂

Barbie has no idea what it is trying to be, and it thinks it can be both feminist & humanist, which makes no sense, and Greta (not at all a feminist -- just thinks she is cause she's a ditsy, naive, overly emotional twat) clearly has no idea of what she is doing or saying or what her beliefs are because she has none...but what she did do is unintentionally parody the pseudo/anti intellectual shitpile based on a basically false premise that falls on its obviously hypocritical ass all the time that is feminism (minus women's rights --- which really isn't feminism at all)...this is not complexity, Bret, this is incoherence & pseudo intellectualism, the kinda thing that literally ISN'T true complexity/nuance...and Bret's praise showcases his deteriorating mental state, as well as his failure to understand how woke is a pseudo intellectual bastardization of logic that goes back to the '60s...and with his praise of Lena Fucking Turdpile Dunham and even Judd Apatow (who's moronically mad that Barbie was nominated for Adapted, but that's the least of his deficiency problems), it's clear that he doesn't realize the West has declined over 50 years into retarded shit on THAT level gaining a voice...this "cancel culture" debacle we have right now exists BECAUSE we have allowed shit like feminists to speak without the fear of being brutalized...now they are the ones doing the cancelling & praising self-parodying, retarded shit like this...all we can do is bask in the glow while they scientifically embarrass themselves...but why does Bret have to go along for the ride? Same reason he kept Todd around for so long 😂😂
Neil G.
2024-04-11 06:34:22 +0000 UTC
Jaws isn't his best...neither is Se7en HIS best...Coppola peaked pretty much automatically, after his amateur late 60s bullshit...Not to mention: Se7en is Fincher's First, since Alien 3 doesn't count, and Jaws is Spielberg's third, after two masterworks: Duel & The Sugarland Express...Duel counts, even though it was a TV film...it's a great film...a testament to the GOAT that is Steven Spielberg

"Now I Am Become Convinced" 😂😂...at what, how much you are shitting on yourself, Bret mah Boi?? 😂😂
The fact that he had to "get around to" Oppenheimer, and still calls the scientifically incoherent, subhuman retarded shitpile that is that Barbie Shit that literally gives into all the woke-tarded shit (even though it's a confused mess anyhow) he despises not only good but a MASTERPIECE just shows you the level of drugs that Bret is taking that outweigh anything Blair or Bateman ever took 😂😂...kinda like how he still hasn't gotten around to just how fucked up Todd truly was 😂😂...and they both went to see that woke-tarded shitpile 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"It's one of the most virtuosic American Comedies in a long time"...that "sophistication" is literally pseudo intellectualism with a pink outlook, making bullshit attempts to be smart with "oooo, look at my Proust Joke" look even faggier...Bret literally falls into their faggy, anti-intellectual, pseudo-intellectual retarded shitpile and un-ironically thinks it's smart...kinda like his defense of classical pseudo-intellectual shitpile Paul Schrader and his moronic, un-ironic ode to every pseudo intellectual breakdown of "Hollywood vs European Films" that have destroyed White (Euro-Centric) Culture over the last 50-100 years...but it's not this obvious, Bret...this Barbie shit blows the anti/pseudo intellectual decline of the white world in the last 50 years right up in your face, and you notice
In a way, it all makes sense 😂😂...Sean Fennessey's assessment "this is a movie where the positives outweigh the negatives" sounds so much less retarded now 😂😂...doesn't make that fat, retarded Joanna Robinson turd-whore kike any less qualified for the gas chamber, however 😂😂...not to mention, her retarded kike sidekick (sidekike 😂😂) Mallory Rubin

Calling Fincher “a great director in search of a great movie” is preposterous. The social network, zodiac, and se7en are all great films - even if Fincher “the director” takes a back seat to writing, acting, ambience

I read The Killer as being about Fincher himself. He blew the last assignment & went back to basics.
Saltburn is more Highsmith than BEE. Talented Mr. Ripley with some Teorama for good measure. Enjoyed it, but the swerve was so very obviously coming, and the film seemed so unbelievablely pleased with having pulled it off - so it kinda gets caught jerking itself off...

I don't think Greta's ever been much for gender politics. I've heard interviewers blatantly try to goad her into a juicy soundbite about me too, no women directors being nominated for Oscar's, etc. She has always resisted. Greta is interested in raising her profile as a director, and gave the people what they wanted. No more A24 for a while.

I love BEE but why does he take such glee in recounting every single fucking plot point of a movie? I understand people can get a little nuts when it comes to wanting to avoid spoilers but there is such a thing as the joy of seeing a movie for the first time before you know THAT much about what’s gonna happen. I wonder if he was one of those kids I remember being friends with in my youth who’d make you sit thru every supposed detail of the previous night’s epic dream.

Oppenheimer is a fucking bore-fest and a shallow telling of a fascinating story with a deeply strange protagonist. Good luck watching it a third time, Bret! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The 1981 doc ‘The Day After Trinity: J. Robert Oppenheimer and the Atomic Bomb’ is excellent. I also recommend The Rest Is History podcast Oppenheimer episodes: ‘The Father of The Atom Bomb’ and ‘The Witch Hunt’ from June 2023.

As someone who grew up playing obsessively with Sun Lovin' Malibu and Sparkle Eyes Barbie with some Stacies and one single Ken, the Barbie movie landed where it was intended to. I appreciate Bret's sensibility and empathy towards the geriatric millennial female experience (with Barbie) and Greta's ability to translate it. It was a visual treat, cheesy at times, but at a certain age sentimentality is highly appreciated. But the true star of the movie was Ken. Love Ken. I wish I understood him at 7, but hey, never too late.

Happy that Bret got out to the theater and enjoyed some movies. It's been a solid year for the cinema and was great to hear an episode that wasn't all doom and gloom. I really enjoyed Oppenheimer. I still think Dark Knight, Inception, and Dark Knight Rises are Nolan's best but still really enjoyed it. Was great to see Nolan inject a film about normal life with no action with his style like Michael Mann with The Insider or Fincher with The Social Network. I didn't think Barbie was all that great, by far the weakest film Greta has directed or written. The real story was Margot Robbie, her career as a headliner seemed on the ropes a bit after Amsterdam and Babylon both tanked. I don't think she had really had a hit since I, Tonya. I enjoyed aspects of Poor Things but didn't understand the constant sex scenes. I know people think having them there somehow makes the movie more edgy and substantive, but I think they were just there to cover up for a lack of a coherent story. They're basically like the CGI superhero fight for the artier crowd. The same goes for Saltburn, those 'shocking' scenes are just there to distract you from the fact there just isn't much to the story being told.

I am shocked Bret loved Barbie. Movie is hot garbage. Would've been better if it was just a romance about Barbie and Ken. Maybe a fish out of water movie ... not the academic, ideology obsessed crap we got.
Oppenheimer was basically a Wikipedia entry for the first two hours and finally becomes interesting in the last hour.

I’m glad that barbenheimer brought people to the movies in droves and proved that people will still go to the theater for movies they actually want to see and that spectacle still matters.
However, I’m baffled by Bret’s love of Barbie and its script??
I was very excited for the movie and was shocked at what an incoherent mess it was. I was expecting a little feminist drivel here and there, but figured I could live with it. But the movie seemed so confused on what it was trying to say (and it was desperately wanting to say something) or what it was even about that I’m continuously stunned by the praise it received.
I didn’t need or want it to be anything more than a really fun movie and it couldn’t even deliver that.

Man, I liked Oppy even less on a second viewing. I really don't get Nolan, and I have tried several times. He is talented as a technician sure, but as a writer and artist? I don't know, I find him boring to sometimes silly. I always find his films very safe and sterile. Same thing with Oppy. Always have felt that Nolan basically just makes big budget, mainstream populist fair that he tries to elevate by throwing on a thin veil of intellectualism. I think he's too tethered to his 100M dollar budgets and box office returns to ever truly make a daring, subversive or challenging film.
N.M. Janice.
2024-01-31 19:44:24 +0000 UTC
Glad Bret came around on Oppy. I had to see it 3x before I really loved it. First few times I was just so taken by aback by the direction and music. Nolan and Ludwig are the primary stars of the film imo, before you even factor in the stacked ensemble cast anchored so perfectly by CM.

Shocked Bret doesn't like Memento, which I still think is his best film. Like Tarantino's sophomore effort Pulp Fiction and PT Anderson's sophomore Boogie Nights, Fincher's Se7en, Spielberg's Jaws... there's something about a great director's 2nd film that tends to be his/her best that is never really topped. Although some directors (like Kubrick, Scorsese, Coppola, DePalma) peak later.
