QT laughing in the background during the monologue<3

Giulio Rasi

Revisiting this comment because Gavin Nesom was on Bill Maher last week and said it the same exact way. Must be a California thing. Funny connection because I’ve always gotten a Patrick Bateman lunatic vibe from Gina

Brian Borough

Hell yes. Thanks for this. Merry Christmas!

grainpulp

I wonder if he knows that the pacing of Pulp Fiction was an influence on it, according to the co-screenwriter in his memoir on the making of EWS.

Paul Richardson

He’s literally the only person I’ve ever heard say it like that. So odd.

Brad Turner

I also thought Point Blank was boring and I LOVE Boorman. I want to give PB another couple of rewatches, though

Giovanni Loddo

oh dang!

Collin Myers

The Pure Cinema Podcast he actually said he hasn't seen it and has no intention to. "I don't wanna watch a sex movie by a 70 year old" -QT

Conor C

I loved Bret and QT talking about this film. Especially the info about Bruce Dern, whose acting of Capt. Hyde absolutely made that film. Plus look for a young Jonathan Banks in the scene where Hyde brings home fellow soldiers. The beginning of a classic career!

E

Loved QTs book but totally agree with BEE on Deliverance third act. Such an unnerving ending and great tone. Altho i agree with QT on Point Blank. Boring movie, over rated.

Alexander Quattlander

It'll just be normal life

Alex Waller

bret ask quentin if hes watched eyes wide shut yet

Collin Myers

Yeah, I'm 31 and Bret definitely overdoes it with the differences in childhood stuff. One major difference is that there's way more organized activities for kids now/recent-ish past than when Bret was growing up. My childhood was definitely more structured, but to say I was protected or coddled from things in the manner Bret usually describes is a real stretch, I was just playing sports rather wandering around after school.Nevertheless, kids are still kids and all of that stuff that Bret thinks is so wild and specific to his childhood likely has never stopped and will continue to go on for quite some time.

Alex Waller

Can't imagine life as Tarantino's son, having his Father show him his films, like "look at what I've created, son", mindfuck.

John Q. Thompson

Revisited that earlier this year when Fun City out the blu-ray. I was on a Gere and Paul Schrader kick. That, "American Gigolo" & "Hardcore." Can't wait for the new Schrader & Gere film next year.

John Q. Thompson

When Tarantino said "Bound For Glory" in black & white, I literally said "oh, wow!"

John Q. Thompson

As good as it gets!

Will Hurt

Richard Price’s novel Ladies Man. What a great book. “Of course you like it” ha ha … follow that up with Hubert Selby’s The Demon.

Darren Ankenman

I had to rejoin the Patreon when I saw this was posted. A Q.T. podcast is always a must-listen, especially with B.E.E. I am now planning to pick up a copy of Richard Price's "Ladies Man". I just got "Bloodbrothers" from my local used book store too. I was familiar with Price as a screenwriter, not as much as a novelist.

Andrew Lapointe

All that talk bout R Gere naked and no mention of Breathless? Shows good side c#$k in that shower scene.

Alexander Quattlander

Fantastic episode 🍾

Matteo Persivale

Based.

David Willis

Always so great.

Graig Gilkeson

Great episode

Peter Guzzo

Disiney

Brian Borough

i’m so jealous. i just turned 30 and i only have a few memorable cinema experiences. really sad that’s like all over now. it sounds like it was so lively in the 70s. soo jealous. it’s just not the same watching at home.

mia

Didn’t want this to end.

Graeme

Fucking fantastic stuff. I could listen to those two shoot the breeze all day.

Harry Roth

I don't even need to wait until after my run to say this is great.

Erik

I was surprised when QT was doing to podcast rounds promoting Cinema Speculation he didn’t come on the BEE show. Maybe it was preaching to the converted. But good to have him back on now. Hopefully we get more books for QT in the future

Alistair Dean

Would love a Sorkin screenplay about that week where Hal Ashby saved Coming Home.

Eric Z.

quentin’s spot on about non-white families and violent cinema. i saw “deliverance” and “billy jack” when i was 9 or 10 and my dad just loved it!

Nick Not Nolte

Hell yeah

Adriaan

Nooooo, now I have to wait till part II

Twan Van Geel

Take a shot of vodka every time Bret asks if it's Coppola or Copeola? 😂

Dave Mason

am going to listen on my run. will say more later, after my run.

richard owain roberts

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!

Collin Myers

It's probably free on youtube

Alex Waller

I always enjoy listening to QTs thoughts on cinema, I heard BEE interview from a few years ago but can't seem to access his 2015 interview . I think I'm gold level access , ill keep trying.

Michael Madonna

I get what Bret was trying to hammer home about “the freedom” of growing up in the 70s, and I don’t deny that was the case, but to assume that every kid growing up now doesn’t have that is, I dunno…it comes off as disingenuous. Granted I’m 25, I’m not really growing up in the “tik tok generation”, but when I was a kid, my parents took me to R rated movies all the time. Shit, when I was 14 I saw Django Unchained opening night. My parents let me watch movies like Porky’s when I was like 10. And once I turned 16 (and got my license) I was out every night going to movies, three-four times a week with my friends. I think that everyone just has different up bringings, today, back then and in the future.

Maxwell Rinehart

YOOOOOO LETS GO - got Cinema Speculation in my stocking last year and it got snorted up quick - fav guest, fav director of all time GOAT GOAT GOAT

Seneca Garcia

That moment when Quentin can’t sit quietly anymore 😂 Merry Christmas to me, what a treat 🫶🏼
