Disagree strongly. I like BEE but I don't need his every thought on everything every day. The back and forth is far more interesting and revelatory.

Travis Films

"An European actor"!!! What the hell is an European Actor? Would you describe an Argentinian actor as an "American Actor"?

Jorge Espinha

could listen to bret talk about books all damn day. great episode

Collin Myers

Look, we're all just trying to get through this veil of tears called life. I doubt she's as convinced of her theories as she seems.

John

You must be a scream at parties.

John

Is this Lenonheads Evan? Wow. You are hot, if so.

John

Loved this one

Lia Russo

we used to put mentally ill people in institutions. now, i guess, we give them book deals

Neil Anderson

Lol

David Willis

Riding the coattails of a multi-year lo-fi performance piece is not cute.

Pp358

am going to listen on my run. will say more later, after my run.

David Willis

Good interview, interesting family. Pre-ordered her book.

Mark Hopkins

Every time you have the odd resentment against your parents, it’s great to listen to a podcast like this.

Keith campbell

An astute observation. A subtlety I missed!

Allan Sherwood

I would have loved more cutting ! Way more cutting and sex with older white men!

Knokkel knokkel

Granted, I grew up with poor with religious, simple, abusive foster/adopted parents who resented my existence. But, I don't understand one thing this woman is saying. Which, you know, is interesting, I suppose. Because she states all her theories like they are common knowledge absolute truth.

Kristeen

Less guests, more Brett. The only podcaster I've ever heard whose voice I can stand for over an hour. The guest voices are just jarring, especially this one damn.

Happyhead

Wow, maybe it was just me but I had to turn that off after 10 minutes. The guest wasn't interesting at all.

Dave Mason

It’s very of a Shards mood.

Pp358

Pre-ordered her book immediately. Simply cannot wait. (As a completely unrelated aside, is anyone else bothered by the flash spot on Bret's profile photo? Drives me nuts. Could be fixed in 5 seconds or less.)

Allan Sherwood

1970s predatory chic 🤣

Nick Not Nolte

Bret is a fantastic interviewer and conversationalist. I do completely agree with you about the compound questions. Every time he asks one, I know there will be the question, the question restated followed by a pontification on the nature of the question itself.

N.M. Janice.

She comes off like a perpetual teenager but that could make for interesting prose.

Harold B

Super interesting episode

Anna Sofie Jespersen

Yep the dip off in quality of presenter between Bret’s podcast and other podcasts on the net is stark. He’s very engaging.

Tom

Sheesh, hope the prose is amazing, she’s got the same exact life story of every girl I went to college w

Jonathan Anoj

am going to listen on my run. will say more later, after my run.

richard owain roberts

Def great interview. 🙌

Patrick

Great episode. I had not heard of Alice prior to this but will certainly pick up her book.

Stuart Chivers

I’m really excited by this guest & her upcoming memoir. She is so stuffed with stories, personality, and endlessly fascinating. Great decision to book her on the POD and great decision to make it a 2 parter. It could probably be a 10 parter!

honker_2021

Wow - wonderful - can’t wait for the next one. Bret’s curiosity just going straight for the story in all instances. Can’t wait to read Alice’s book.

Bookth

Very good

PETER GREER

Amazing.

Tracey Porter

Bret is very good at interviewing people. Sometimes he talks too much and asks compound questions. But he gets people to open up and have a genuine conversation. That's a rare skill.
