I vaguely recall him dismissing BCS, when discussing shows that people had recommended, as he didn't connect with Breaking Bad. But agree, BCS was so good, that it's a shame that it's a blind spot for him, as you can't really dismiss current TV shows in general without having seen such a great recent one.

David Lowe

I tried, 6 f-bombs in the first 4 minutes of Season 3, Ep 1, pathetically lazy writing, pretty looking or not, I’m gone.

Jim Weaver

Agree, I will never spend even a second of my precious time to watch a show about such empty lives.

Jim Weaver

Great listen, well, up until the Vanderpump dump. But hey, nobody’s perfect ; ) Gonna check out Maisel again, left during season 2, mainly due to lazy f-bomb writing, but will pick up on season 3 to see if there was any improvement.

Jim Weaver

Are you retarded? Gas is over 3 dollars!

Stephen

“Talking to Todd live right now”, what is that supposed to mean or have to do with anything? Yeah using an emoji to refer to a grown man is weird and infantilizing…Seems like you’re the one who’s triggered dude 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ashley

He liked the Air Jordan movie too. BEE flirting with sports this season

Happyhead

Loved the bit about Vanderpump Rules - Bret nailed James Kennedy perfectly with his description of him as 'a facsimile of a British Twink'.

Bazayer

I want him to shit all over Barbie & praise Oppenheimer...at least have a complicated relationship with Oppenheimer...then vehemently shit all over Barbie because perceived over-indulgence sure beats the hell out of an obviously awful, overhyped, woke, mentally deficient POS like Barbie/Greta Gerwig 😂😂👍👍

Neil G.

I don't think he got into Breaking Bad IIRC, so doubtful he has tried Better Call Saul

Charlie C

I just heard strangers in a store talking about both movies. It’s been a long time since I heard people talking about any movie in the middle of a store.

Kerry

It’s the first time I’ve seen my local movie theatre busy in months, things are changing.

Tom

Need a Barbie and Oppenheimer episode Bret 🙏🏻

Tom

This is such a bizarre out of touch comment I can't believe anyone truly holds this opinion.

Travis Films

Has Bret ever mentioned Better Call Saul? I’m curious to hear his thoughts on its final season. It’s up there with The Sopranos for me, even surpassing Breaking Bad.

Adam Dugger

The economy was doing far better under Trump and it’s not even close😂 Taxdollars are being shipped over to the Ukraine proxy war as quickly as they are being collected and inflation is soaring.

Christo Mondavi

😂😂😂

Is LA this much worse in 2023 vs say 2013? America is the richest country in the world. Under Biden most if not all Americans is swimming in money. Imho Bret is too negative. The freedom Americans have, alone, is unique to the world! We are very lucky. We have democrats running the country and their only agenda is to increase quality of life for Americans ❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🥰

I have never watched a second of the Vanderpump Rules and I never will, so it is fascinating to hear such a high level exploration of its trash relevance and cultural context. I think the fact that Bret can get something out of it is evidence of the authenticity of his singular high-low cultural voice.

Harrison Bergeron

I just have to say everytime I see your comments and you refer to Bret as “🐝” it drives me nuts. Are we in 3rd grade here? Just say Bret.

Ashley

A rare occurrence but this episode wasn’t great for me. I’ve tried and failed to enjoy Mrs Maisel more than a few times over the years, largely because of Bret’s endorsement bu sorry, too annoying. And Vanderpump Rules?! Too dumb to even start…

Ronnie

Not that I have any right to tell Bret what to write, but I would absolutely love if his next book was about a group of friends on a well established reality show à’ la vanderpump, especially with some of his signature violence and horror mixed in. Seems like the perfect match.

Bee

I must admit, I wish it was a list of Bret's 10 best movies instead of "viewing experiences." I miss real movies, and TV is just not the same.

Allan Sherwood

This episode felt like a repeat

Michael

Bill Durham is a classic - Bret’s take on Succession is the thing I didn’t know I needed Yessss

Seneca Garcia

Loved the take on VPR. Agree 💯 with 🐝. 👏👏👏

Patrick

am going to listen on my run. will say more later, after my run.

richard owain roberts

Mrs. Maisel drove me crazy with the constant f-bombs that were irritating after a while. It was also wildly anachronistic, especially when it shows Lenny Bruce's career implode because of language and subject manner....meanwhile, Midge is more vulgar and sexual than Bruce ever was. It's well made and can be funny, but it does grate.

Mark Schatzberg

Watched Sunday Bloody Sunday when it was on the Criterion Channel a few years ago. I thought it was fantastic. Glad to hear that Bret agrees.

N.M. Janice.

Forgot its on Criterion now. Still have that 50% off sale goin on too...

Alexander Quattlander

For sure!

N.M. Janice.

Oh its fantastic just a surprising choice from BEE.

Alexander Quattlander

Bull Durham’s reputation has grown over the years. It even has a criterion release. Not a bad little baseball/ romantic comedy film.

N.M. Janice.

I just finished “The Bear” simply incredible….thank you for the recommendation.

PETER GREER

The Hills was a work. The cast members admitted it.

Stevan Popovic

God! Don't watch any episode of "Gilmore Girls"! You might get permanent brain damage. Shit on steroids.

Jorge Espinha

Very apt description of Scandoval as “Ingmar Bergman’s Scenes from a Marriage if it was re-enacted by muppets”

Clare O'Brien

Bull Durham was a huge shocker. Whats next I wonder...Dumb and Dumber he wouldnt be wrong...

Alexander Quattlander
