Big fan! It’s the best show around. BEE takes my platinum member questions all the time! Been listening since podcast1. Miss ya, let’s do lunch! Or come on my radio show!

M. Nero Nava

Nero! It’s me Robyn. I’m psyched to see you on here 🖤

Robyn O'Neil

To answer your question: I AM gonna read the book and I deliberately did not listen to the Shards-Episodes because I need the reading experience.. :) And I can't wait and I thank you for that in advance. Luckily got a Waterstone Signed Edition.

Ben Bernschneider

Good call. I’ve long considered Stillman the yang to Bret’s yin. It would be interesting to hear if they share a common ground - the last days of cinema perhaps? (I adore Last Days of Disco.)

Paul Richardson

Was at the same screening. Second that guest request.

Rory Johnstone

Just saw a screening of Barcelona over the weekend. Whit Stillman spoke and took questions beforehand. I know he is probably not Bret’s cup of tea but he seems like an interesting guy especially on history of film. Could be a good guest.

Mary Walker

The final question about crime fiction made me think that James Ellroy would be a great guest on the podcast. Maybe a long shot!

P Smoke

I have to admit, I'm with Bret about Hunter S. Thompson.

Billy Schafer

Brad Pitt has only done one or two good movies in last twenty years. Its all about the first half of his career. Cruise was close to doing that too. But has managed slightly better.

Alexander Quattlander

Listening right now! Loving Bret and Adam more or less casually talking together. Also, Adam’s voice is so SEXY! Is there a possibility of seeing Adam’s photo on the feed sometime? 😁

Moar restaurant content love u

Erik Jerrard

Right. I can see that

Brendan Geraghty

I'm crying for Bret right now. Joe Rogan has Jon Peters as a guest. And it's kind of a waste because ...well, I don't care much about UFC. Peters completely got the plot wrong to Legend of Billie Jean. The sea boils and turns red. Jon Peters would be an amazing BEE guest.

bpvalentine

This isn’t general. Love the show , that’s why I pay for it. It’s a constructive critique on a particular aspect of some eps. Which you know , sometimes can help improve things in the world. You have a different opinion , that’s cool. That is the way the world is.

Brendan Geraghty

These are my fav episodes and I think Adam adds a lot. Haters gonna hate tho. Not surprised that complainer types have to complain. It’s the way of the world now.

Patrick

My apologies to Adam. I was in a bad mood. I love the podcast. Not that anyone will read this, but I’ve had a guilty conscience since I left my negative comment. I think it was the question about Salinas/Steinbeck that “triggered” me. I have personal problems. Have a good day.

Steven Mills

Don't forget to look for Kid Creole and the Cocoanuts in "Against All Odds". Killer song!

Princess Margaret(Queens sister) had infamous cocaine parties at the palace. The film the bank job. Her photos are the ones which they need to get.

Stevan Popovic

Regarding cocaine and the Royal Family, may I happily point you to this post from the gossip site Popbitch. "Which 3rd generation royal has an initially funny (but gradually grating) habit of unrolling friends’ banknotes when doing coke to say “Hello Granny!” to the Queen’s portrait, before re-rolling it and hoofing their line?" (it's probably Princess Eugine, who was allegedly known as 'Sesh Gremlin' at university)

And After Dark, My Sweet!

N.M. Janice.

I’m kind of there too … The impression I get is, Bret has to write a fairly dense monologue in order to sustain an independent episode. The Q&A template seems to achieve a similar goal without much stress … I think our Platinum folk need to think a little deeper (or perhaps more broadly) before submitting a question … For instance, I think we need to stop asking questions about Once Upon a Time. Not to say it isn’t a good movie - it’s just not really part of the conversation outside of these Q&A’s. And yes, I’ll definitely shut up now because I’m not a platinum member and ought not to punch above my weight($$)class.

Brian Rooney

Yet, it continues, no matter how "modern" we are. Puzzling.

Kristeen

Woman here. I despise anything royal. I think it sets a bad tone for all of society, perpetuating all kinds of hierarchy in all kinds of situations. I have no girlish fantasies of being a princess or queen and I think it's irresponsible to yoke girl toddlers with those monikers.

Kristeen

I know ya’ll say these Q&A eps are popular but just wanted to mark a dissenting opinion. Please reduce these type of eps in the mix. Many of the questions are so niche. I know I’m shouting into the void here 🤷🏻‍♂️

Brendan Geraghty

am going to listen on my run. will say more later, after my run.

richard owain roberts

Last podcast Bret mentioned that he did not like Fleetwood Macs Tango in the night album. On Saturday I watched a Fleetwood Mac tribute band. The Tango in the night songs had a better reaction than rumours songs.

Stevan Popovic

I love these eps. 🙌

Patrick

In England the reaction to the Queens death has gone several ways. The royalists are in mourning. Mainstream media coverage only shows this. Most people like the Queen as a person. Not the institution of the monarchy itself. Everyone else wants to get on with there lives. As the fallout from government pandemic policy is still felt. Republicans(Anti-Monarchists) are waiting for the chance to chip away at the institution. Due to UK devolution this can happen. The remaining royals dont have the same respect from the public.

Stevan Popovic

Thank you for another great show. PS RIP/Bon voyage Jean-Luc Godard.

Thomas Edwards

Brit here - sad about the queen, but she did have a pretty good innings, to be fair. Plus we get a bank holiday on Monday, so….y’know. I surely can’t be the only one who struggles with Brad Pitt in virtually any film? He just plays himself. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him sublimate into a role. Especially OUATIH!

James__

Thank you for a great episode

PETER GREER

Against all Odds Rachel Ward yum yum

Mister Farkel

Enjoyed the BEE breakdown of Alex’s question/statement about OUATIH. I really didn’t care for it as a movie, but enjoyed the production design. I found myself bored. I usually prefer eclectic and unconventional casting (I’m a filmmaker, micro budget broke ass) but at a certain point that film was so boring that Leo and Pitt were the only thing going. I would have walked out without movie stars
