Conceptionally, the video is actually pretty cool. The problem is that it was shot on tape, not film, which makes it look really dated. The director was Russell Mulcahy who later directed all of Duran Duran's early videos ("Rio," "Hungry Like the Wolf," "Save a Prayer," "Wild Boys.") He also caught Hollywood's eye and made movies like Highlander and Ricochet. People must've have seen something impressive in the Icehouse video.
@davidwann this was their first album, it was called Icehouse and their name (the band's name) at the time was 'Flowers'. After this album they changed their name to 'Icehouse' and the rest is history.

Icehouse music sounds very good these days. singer Ivor Davies (shit, is that his name - I probably haven't heard a DJ say it since the early 80s) sometimes sounds remarkably like Bryan Ferry.

Classic! That bass synth growl is perfection. https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/normanwoods/patina
