This episode was more unhinged than Russell Crowe in a 4x4 pickup. Please less guests from the Trump admin, producing polemics then trying to position themselves as aesthetics over ideology. Facepalm.

Brett let’s everyone be themselves while he is very comfortable being himself. He has a unique and honest way of interviewing without cow- towing , yet he always finds common themes with all of his guests....topics that Are often provocative, as much as unexpected, and He intuitively steers away from topics that would be either a snore fest or unnecessarily adversarial. I enjoy all of bretts interviews, even with people I don’t feel I “ connect “ with but Brett always finds a reason that they were worthy of our time to listen to- I gain something out of each podcast... it’s worth the $

I wanted to know what Amanda thought of less than zero

Finally got around to this episode. Fabulous conversation with Amanda. I followed the Russian hoax, as most did, and found her documentary to be extraordinary. Thanks for the political discussion again, always a moment of zen.

I’m left of center and don’t pay attention to QAnon, nor do I feel the need to put people with conspiracy theories in concentration camps. I know the history of the left and their endless quest to destroy freedom so that they can feed their fragile, easily manipulated egos only to be destroyed by the monster they’ve created. Do you not know the history of Russia? Do you not know the history of Italy? Try reading outside of your echo chamber.

Jett

You’re missing the point love. Just try and use your words well. You’re doing great. Xoxo todd

Jett, you're Qanon is showing...

Nick Pendleton

This guy is constructive? Please. What's he going to do when he doesn't have a pinata let out his misdirected low self-esteem anymore? He's got 3 days left.

Jett

Hey @jett you’re allowed to say whatever you want but try and keep it constructive

The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast

Shut up brainwashed fascist. You hate freedom of any kind.

Jett

Maybe, but by that standard, its always the same cultural content, too. A primary focus on aesthetics, a lionization of "auteur" driven projects, prioritizing "voice" or style over structure and plotting. While I don't agree with all of these preferences, I am fascinated by the use of this lens by an insider when critiquing culture and yes, even politics. Especially since politics won't leave our culture the fuck alone. And yes, I get that all art is political but we jumped the shark right about the time youtubers started "problematizing" video games.

I usually can't stomach much more than about 20 minutes of the rightwing apologist interviews, but I'm really curious how Ellis is going to spin the sedition and murder perpetrated by Trump and his Deplorables into just more of my "Trump Derangement Syndrome." Should be a laugh. At least Shards is worth my pocket change.

Nick Pendleton

It's always the same political content though. I'm from Europe so I could care less, but this was (by far) the worst episode I've listened to (I pretty much love almost every single one). Trump derangement syndrome, should cancel NYT subscription, hate for Adam Schiff, Democrats gone crazy. I wonder if this interview - in which Trump is branded a great entertainer - would have gone the same way had it been conducted after the storm on the capitol.

Dan Zilic

I haven't seen a plot against the president, but I love apocalypse now. I love the playboy bunnies and Marlon Brando's acting.

Alfonso Corral

Try getting a reservation at Dorsia now.

Brian Rooney

Fascinating interview. I noticed a lot of talk about patrons who don’t appreciate political content. We’re not all that sensitive. I’m interested in this podcast’s cultural take on politics. I’ve also really enjoyed the serialization of the new book (which I haven’t in the past). Thanks & keep up the good work.

Someone calling Milius boring reminds me of a Humanities professor I had who said something about bored minds being like a dull scalpel.

bpvalentine

She was boring

Chase

Pretty high on the hot / crazy matrix.
