Took a few small liberties here. The words are still as they appear in the book, apart from the addition or removal of the odd word so that it's (hopefully) clearer to the reader who's speaking.
For those who are interested, Boonyi is actually pregnant at this point in the story - though it's said that she "had grown so obese that her pregnancy had been invisible. It lay hidden somewhere within her fat". The sense I get from the text is that she'd be just as fat if she wasn't pregnant, so I don't feel that omitting to mention the pregnancy from the text really matters.
I've also quite literally glossed over some of the coarser descriptions of Boonyi's physical state at this point in the story. Hey, characters are partly a product of the reader's imagination, aren't they! And this is how I like to imagine her. ๐

Hope you like her. Comments and feedback are always very welcome. I've had real fun with this sequence. There may be a bonus pic, but I'm going to prioritise a few other projects first. I've received a couple of suggestions for the next "lardy lady in literature" to be featured in this series, and I've got a few candidates of my own. I'll do a poll for who should be next over the weekend to let you guys decide who should be next.
All the best,
Hal
