Kari's Life in Lockdown - Prelude

Let me take you back to the start of 2020... said no-one ever.

Well, actually I said it. Because the start of 2020 is where this story begins. Sorry, can't be helped!

As often happens, what began as a very brief introductory piece took on a life of its own. It's a little slow moving and long winded, and the ending is rather rushed, but I hope you enjoy it as a scene-setter and prelude to the next part, which is mostly written and just needs polishing.

Once again, a HUGE thank you to all patrons. I can't complain too much about 2020. It was an incredibly stressful year for me work wise, but overall I've been very fortunate, and the busyness did make me realise how important it is to focus as much as possible on the things that make me feel purposeful and creative - which very much includes writing and illustrating here! And now that things are (finally!) settling down, I'm determined to reward the loyalty and patience of my patrons in 2021. I hope this story constitutes the first small step towards doing so.

Stay safe, and thank you once again! 😊

Thank you. I suspect it might!

Very beautiful prose, as usual! I hope that this friendly rivalry extends to the dining table.

Thanks Harry! Funnily enough, I've actually spent more of my life in Newcastle than in Cheshire, though Cheshire is nearer to where I actually live. The areas of Cheshire and thereabouts that I tend to have in mind when I write about Abbey et al - Wilmslow, Bowden, Alderley Edge, Hale - are wealthier, more rural and perhaps quainter than cities like Newcastle and Liverpool. (To get an idea, try a Google Street View of Alderley Edge or Wilmslow and look at some of the cars!) They're places I fantasise about living in when I visit them, not least because of the many wealthily glossy and often rather well-fed women, whose variety of bling is, dare I say, posher than that of most geordies and scousers. Rest assured, there will be some sex scenes to come! I just don't find them easy to write - which is why the one with Tim and Kari in Midnight Trifle (can I count that?) is so brief!

Also, I love that your various series are clicking together to form a kind of Cheshire Fictional Universe, where greedy beauties dedicate themselves to conspicuous consumption. (Although I'm impatiently awaiting your first sex scene—that seems to be the only area where these gals are quite starved.) As a Yank who is only superficially acquainted with the reputations of English cities, it makes me wonder why you chose this setting. I've heard of Geordies being rather fond of "bling;" do Cheshire girls have a similar reputation? Or a more upscale version? Tell me more about this delightful place that has slowly, via your fiction, become the city of my dreams.

Nicely done. Two great new characters. As always, I adore your depiction of greed and egotism as much as your descriptions of fairness and fatness. Love of food and love of self are such complementary expressions of personality, lending wonderful motivation to the characters' actions and drawing us into their experience. (Something sorely lacking in WG fiction.)

Really love this :) So many great passages (particularly devouring the brownies) and love the Kari and Michelle competitiveness. Can't wait for more!

Definitely interested in seeing where is goes. But I sense more eclairs in Michelle’s future.

Amazing! All I hoped for and more! Kari and Michelle sound like two pampered overfed pigs, perfection! Cannot wait to see what's next.
