A few reminders from our team as you submit your feedback:
Playtest feedback is most useful when it identifies specific issues, pain points, and areas of confusion—or things that are working well. If you think something is bad/not fun/unbalanced/not as good as the previous version, please be specific and tell us why! And finally, please don't backseat design—it's most helpful to know what you think of the existing design, not what you think it should be, so we can best identify the core issues to address.
The designers (Hannah, Mazey, Brandes, Dan, and Brennan) are the ones reading the feedback, so please keep things polite and respectful. We know the class isn't perfect yet—that's why we're playtesting!—but we've put a lot of time, blood, sweat, tears, difficult-to-obtain ritual components, hearts, and souls into this design process.

I do not have official guidelines or anything, but typically they want you to have at least one solid stat in common with the class you want to multiclass into. So you are right, wisdom makes a lot of sense as that is the spellcasting mod. You would probably do just fine with that combo, and you're right it would probably be a lot of fun!

2025-08-11 21:48:30 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Any tips on multi-classing into witch? I have a level 3 beast master ranger and I think it would make a good combination (or at least a fun one!). Unless I missed it, I didn't see any info on requirements for multiclassing into witch - I'd assume the ranger requirements work for this though, as Wisdom is an important class for them too

2025-07-24 15:50:35 +0000 UTCI've been DM'ing a new game where one of my players is a Witch, and it's been really fun! I'm also about to play a shorter campaign as a Witch, which I'm very excited about. One feedback note I'd like to share would be regarding the Curse Spells list. I was a bit confused on how that list worked mechanically. I think maybe using a different label for that Curse Spells list would help a lot. There are a lot of things labeled as curses and lots of different cursing mechanics (which I adore), so it gets a bit difficult to differentiate the different kinds of curses. I only found a handful of effects related to the Curse Spells list after coming through the text. I think more opportunities to utilize the Curse Spells and make them more prevalent would be great and could lessen some confusion around their mechanics. Thanks for the time and care put into the class and subclasses! They are quite wonderful tools to have.

2025-03-29 01:30:12 +0000 UTCThey're doing a lot more licensed content, but so far they haven't done playtests for licensed content. Though, when WBN reaches a point where they're ready to consider jumping on the ddb platform, +1 in support.

2025-03-22 18:57:05 +0000 UTCThis would be the easiest method, as they have the right chassis, but a lot of it is still gonna be clunky. Custom classes were on their list for a long time, but when the original team lead left w/ a lot of the team, the roadmap changed a lot. Biggest hang up is that you have to build in the subclass choices and all the other bits overtop of the Druid stuff, and even then you can't actually hide the Druid stuff on the sheet, so it takes some extra discipline to focus past it.

I've decided to create a custom subclass for Cleric and change Everything that I can. But I'm hitting roadblocks that I'm not sure how to get past. 😅

My DM has allowed me to be able to cast Call to the Hunter on my familiar with the tradeoff being I can't use the other familiar abilities while it's active. Between that and Curse of the Grasping Green we were able to do some nice damage/healing combos for the party!

2025-02-07 13:58:26 +0000 UTCJust throwing this out there. I play my witch on Roll20’s 5e [2014 style] character sheet. If anybody wants features/traits listed with hover-over tooltips, holler. They’ll mostly work for the 2024 sheet* too, but I’ve found it’s still too buggy to use for a custom class. sadface I found I was taking up a ton of chat real estate linking all of her new abilities. The tooltips condense things down to a category with a broad description and bullet points for subsections. It’s an imperfect and wonky workaround but hey. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *The tooltips themselves work, but in some places I used attribute calls to fill in “[proficiency bonus] times per long rest” or similar. Those will be busted for sure.

Sounds like a pain in the ass, and I don’t know how it went but the Googs could surely find it for you.
