And wtf did those soldiers mean by "escape the power of the King" as if Thatdanai did something wrong?? He spent 22 years following the King's command! But hell, maybe the King hates the fact that Khanin and Thatdanai have a strong familial bond that diverts Khanin's attention from his "royal duties" as the next prince... But for real though, WHAT'S GOING ON!? I think Thatdanai got some info about the King's past actions that can dethrone him, so he's operating under the radar to depose him and save Khanin. I also think the text message he received bolsters that idea which explains the emotions that crossed his face afterward. I'm calling it...: Thatdanai is committing what will be seen as treason for the people's justice and HIS son's safety!

He's setting the precedent of a future coup to not only overthrow the current dynasty, but potentially the entire monarchy. At this point, the citizens are probably preferring the idea of a democracy instead...The King is too set in his ways. And I believe he's just as, if not more, power hungry than Daddy Brown. So even is Khanin were to win the competition to make Tharin the next king, I think he'd merely be a sad marionette; trapped and controlled by noose-like strings expertly weaved and manipulated by master puppeteer King Addams.
