Blog: Gatsby loses his job
Added 2019-05-26 02:52:39 +0000 UTCOk, so I'm going to post a shorter, more cleaned up version of this little word jumble on Discord later, but here's the longer, rougher cut.
I've mentioned on stream multiple times that I have the type of job that would NOT be cool with me streaming on the side. It's one of those super "SRSBSNS" type positions that doesn't really respect that an employee's personal life can (and should) be separate from their identity as a professional. But whatever. tl;dr forgive me for not saying WHAT it is I do.
I was recently "let go" from my position at my job. I say "let go" because it very much did not feel like being "fired," and I know I did my job quite well. But, cuts were made, and I was cut.
Many people have asked, "Did your job find out about Bro-Op?" To be honest, I do not know, but that's not my theory. I really think it was far more out of my hands than that.
That's the bad news. But in the spirit of patreon progress updates, here's the HELLA good news:
I am financially capable of going out of work for a couple of months while I get my shit back together. During that time, my full time job is "finding a full time job." I will still be working on my hobbies once my "work day" is done, but don't expect updates to speed up any time soon.
I also still plan on rolling out major patreon changes and new, cool benefits for patrons. Can't stop, won't stop.
Finally, while I will be prioritizing jobs in the field I'm already most qualified, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. I will also be looking for jobs more related to editing, content production, and the like.
So yeah. Thanks for the support, as always! I do not need anyone to up their patronage, nor am I soliciting that. Bro-Op money does not go into my bank account--it goes straight back into Bro-Op. But thanks for thinking of me!
