The Boyfriend Episode 3 Reaction

Comments

Nolan-ThickeMix-Grant

Will you continue this show? The next episodes are so good!

DanDan

i hope you guys continue with the show. at least for the dai shun of it all. they are very interesting. i have been watching a reactor on youtube that really breaks down shun's perspective and i have been really loving it. :)

Lindsay Wood

This is exactly my complaint with this show. What is the point of having all these people in a house if you don't really find out anything about them? What friendships were formed? What discussions did they have? I feel like we got nothing cohesive so you can't get attached to any of them and therefore it just feels empty. The coffee truck "dates" are completely useless as we have maybe one talk while they're working and then it just cuts to a different scene. The panel was definitely the best part about it.

Jasmine

I honestly don’t get the hype about this show. This show could’ve been great if they had worked on the editing. I wasn’t able to make any connection with the men because some of them I kind of forgot were even there ( tayhoon lol). I wanted more conversation and was let down

P

I do think there is an actual issue with this show...Looking at you Netflix? Why showing us superficial coffeetruck scenes that means nothing, instead of everyday life and conversations? I liked the idea of them working together, but it showed nothing really. Even if the contract said limited amount of episodes, at least show us what is really going on between the people who clearly developed relationships and maybe even feelings . As a "viewer" you just don't get all of the emotions they must have felt. I still watched it and liked it, because I think it is an important "show", and I appreciated each and every person, really! If Kent and you don't enjoy the "series", then I hope you will focus on stuff you actually enjoy :)

SUEME08

They got rid of so many scenes .. that when people are trying to put things together it doesn’t add up . That’s the only thing I don’t like about this show. They cut out conversations that made sense 😂

Jin The prince

They've cut so many scenes that everything feels rushed before we can grasp one plot, another begins. It's absurd that they've crammed a month's worth of content into just 10 episodes. Uncut scenes are being shared on Twitter, and I keep wondering how they could exclude those. That's what the audience really wants to see. Even though the events are deeply experienced, they are presented to us, the viewers, in a very superficial way. This moment here example: https://x.com/nanyanennnn/status/1819377279363174458?s=46 Was after their when they talked about Shun‘s exes but they didn’t include it.. there is more moments like this. Due to Netflix's poor editing, many viewers are left wondering how DaiShun became so close without any significant events to explain their bond.

Honey

From Kent: He expected greatness based of everything online and got men rotating out of a coffee truck shift.

Nolan-ThickeMix-Grant

To answer Jin’s point, it’s a bit of both. The dai/shun bl couples are a bit obnoxious, but the editors aren’t giving us anything to react to. We’re just as lost as the panel. I want to know more about these men. Like they edited out a clip of taehoon/gensei. I’m curious what made these two non-Japanese men apply for a Japanese dating show? If ur know ur Asian history, taehoon is going have a completely different Japanese experience as a Korean than gensei as a Taiwanese person. And to a degree I think it also has to deal with casting. I’m glad Alan was there to shake things up, but I think maybe they casted too many reserved people or people who have their job requirements like kazuto. But also maybe the cast is more outgoing but we’re just not seeing it lol

JP

No for real I kinda dropped the show after ep 3 aired. And only picked it back up when u guys started reacting to it again 😂

JP

THIS. So much was left out, trying to condense 30 days into 10 episodes was...a reach. The viewer ends up missing a lot of context for certain things because it's just not explored or explained. Initially a lot of people couldn't see why certain people liked each other, and it's like, well, we miss 90% of their interactions, so we won't ever get the full story haha. I like that they're given so long to spend time together and figure it all out, and it's less structural - and in that way I like The Boyfriend more than His Man. Buuuuuut, at least with His Man, because it was 8 days over like 12-14 eps, we got to see pretty much everything and actually had context for shit, lmao. Edit: the biggest issue I have with this show is they HAVE edited it like a superficial BL - it's cute for the 'romantic' moments, but when I watched the reunion ep yesterday, the boys all talked about how close they all got, and they talked about stuff people had no idea about because THEY CUT SO MUCH MEANINGFUL SHIT. Entire conversations had between them all that would have made so many other things make sense.

Ophelia

But also the amount of unreleased Clips thats are coming out .. they really did leave a lot out

Jin The prince

I thought I would ask .. are y’all having a negative mindset about this show because of the “Fans” and what they have been doing. Because The boyfriend is such a good show I mean I would pick this over his man any day. I just want to know why there is such a negative outlook on it??
