What Comes Next

So, I actually got a video out the door. That’s been a weight off my shoulders, and I have been experimenting with ideas. One of the things I’ve been doing in my downtime has been watching Computer Chronicles on the Internet Archive, with the possibility of maybe doing a retrospective on the show. It’s been fascinating watching footage of a world that no longer exists, and what TV was like in the 1980s and 1990s.

Right now, I've punched out a script for SunOS and NIS. I'm getting back into the swing of editing again, and I'm starting to figure out next moves.

At this point, I don't know exactly what resources I will have over the next few months. While my new living situation has been much better than my old, it unfortunately has an expiration date on it, which is coming up.

However, I don’t necessary need to go quiet either. I’ve had a lot of time over the last six months to essentially soul search about what my life is going to be going forward. I also know that I’m going to want to reflect on this time in my life.

Aside from a few boxes of personal effects, I'm getting rid of everything that isn't directly related to the channel in some way. As for channel related stuff, well, I'll be making a large downsizing, and what I keep is going into storage for the foreseeable future.

If you’re new to the channel, and have no idea what I’m talking about, this post from a few weeks ago sums it up: https://www.patreon.com/posts/why-i-dropped-of-96469800

Coincidentally, I've also been told by a few people that I should write my life story.

This seems like a good time to do both.

In the past, I wrote works of fiction, technical documents, or whatever I just felt like. It’s one of the better ways I’ve learned to beat stress over the years.

This time though, I’m writing through what has been a very dark time in my life. Part of this is also reflecting on the lessons and takeaways I took from years traveling to the absolute most remote regions of this planet.

Not many people say they found out where the road ends in four cardinal directions.

On Discord, there is a N’s Life ping, which largely has been used if I’m discussing either my current or past life events. I’m going to be extending this to Patreon, and have already added a new collection for N’s Life.

I  hope to show others by example that things can get better even in hopeless scenarios. I also hope to write down some of the bits of wisdom I found while roaming through some of the remote places on Earth.

I hope a few years from now to be able to look back at these writings and perhaps write a book to help those who find themselves at this same crossroads.

So N’s Life will be a feature of the Patreon going forward. Feedback welcome.

yep, the computer chronicles was one of the first places i went when i started going down the retro rabbit hole about 11 or 12 years ago. that and 'the computer programme' from the BBC. 'a world that no longer exists' is very apt and definitely what i like to experience from time to time! :)
