My phone-center story (Dani-she/any): I used to work at what was considered a pretty cushy call center that, in hindsight, worked as a barrier to a lot of peoples' healthcare. I spoke to a lot of nurses on the phone, but every once in a while, I got a doctor, and those didn't tend to be fun. I kept calling this one woman "ma'am" and she got super pissed with me. "Excuse me, do you call EVERYONE that?" "Uh-- yes, I try to be respectful--" "It's DOCTOR." She said it with such incredulity, it was like I called her 'fuckface' or something. Anyway, I left because I realized what a shitty company I worked for. Now I'm broke, but at least I don't hate my job... 🙃
