This was supposed to be more symbolic at first but it turned out to be such a self-indulgent angsty vampire wardrobe thing that I cannot in good consciousness call it canon HAHAH, not even Rick is THIS dramatic, but it's still a fun one to look at me thinks <3 For anyone wondering, it's Kendle's hat on the plate (because... because in canon... he got SERVED! ... please laugh lmao)
Rick and Kendle have a very complicated relationship that I rarely mention much out there since it's quite a rough, abusive one, but Kendle was the person who got Rick involved in the Underground when he was only a young teen. Kendle used his desperation to get away from his father to further his business, yet, unlike Rostya's manipulation that revolved around masking abuse with love and isolation, Kendle was very open about how quickly he'd kill Rick if he made one wrong move, which inevitably lead to their last meeting, many decades later.
Kendle is at fault for the majority of Rick's horrific life experiences, but among the top things I fully believe made him such a disgusting character is just how much he twisted Rick's psyche when he was far too young to fight against it, so much so that, no matter how far Rick traveled and no matter how much time had passed, a part of him still believed every single one of the things Kendle said about him and struggled recognizing a personality of his own behind those words.
