Fancy dads watching Jake set him himself on fire in the background for like the seventh time today T.T poor guys are just trying to edit Rick's manuscripts but Jake's talent at self-destruction doesn't have an off switch unfortunately

(I've been working all day on the new vid backgrounds so for anyone waiting for my DM responses, I'll be there with ya as soon as I finish those! <3)

I rarely mention it since it's hardly plot relevant, but Rick had a little cottage by the lake in Alaska! It's pretty much the only thing he has left from his grandparents as that's where his uncle Viktor evacuated them just before World War II broke out. It was actually a house he bought for the entire Kapralov family, hoping he'd also get Rostya and his family (including baby Rick at the time) to leave USSR as well. Viktor knew things aren't going to go down well early on, and he's already been far too traumatized by WWI to risk losing his family, but Rostya refused to leave, forcing Donna and Rick to stay back in Krasnogorod throughout the entire conflict, mostly because he didn't want to appease his brother, whom he saw as the "golden child" with a savior complex. He refused to give him another "win" in life, another reason why their parents would view Viktor as the better of the two bothers and, thus, he put his family through poverty and just incredible amounts of fear, forcing Rick to spend his earliest years in a war area.

Years later when Rick already moved to Grimport, he managed to locate the house, long after his grandparents were long gone. It was his by inheritance as Viktor had no children of his own, and Rick ended up as the last living member of the Kapralov family. Ever since, this cottage was his favorite place in the world <3 That's mostly where Kostrovs spent their summers, their winters, basically any time they had free, they usually spent there. The kids loved going to Alaska as well and there was always some random catastrophe coming their way each and every time T.T

Another fun fact was that they ALWAYS drove from Grimport to Stiga (the little fictional town by the lake in Alaska) by car, which took like about three full days :,D dudes never once took a plane because Rick is terrified of getting transported by something he can't operate (planes, boats, etc haha). He'd never admit it but he simply hates flying, so they always had a fun field trip back and forth (during which their combined feistyness proved quite difficult to survive in a small, confined space :,)

HAHAH it's because Jake could start a fire on literal ice, it's his secret talent 🤣🤣 LMAO and he really should have considered it HAHA, the thing is, he's scared of fire, he's just really bad at not making things explode by accident also 🤣 but, fun fact, Alaska isn't actually super duper cold over the summers, at least not where they have their little cabin, and wildfires are pretty common, so fire is still a big danger unfortunately :,) but jake's little explosions are always pretty small and they put them out quickly haha And yes, totally! Rick has many books he fully finished and published, it's actually the main way he makes money :) and FJ reads all of them, he actually helps him go through the first few drafts and talks to the publishers ❤️ OHH see i didn't even think about Rick potentially not liking the sound of planes since yeah, thise were common in WWII when he was super small! I think he's also just pretty paranoid in general, and a bit of a control freak, so not being able to contril his environment isn't something he's very fond of haha

Okay, so there is a fire in Alaska? I am so confused as in how that is possible due to being cold, but, wow, that kid will definitely become inmune to fire, at this point 🤣. Would he consider to become a firefighter? I mean, he would have the experience with it. The many heart attacks both of them most have had, wow, that will definitely affect their health, but hey, we all have some crosses to hold, so I bet they are super strong against the obstacle that they encounter in their life. Does FJ read the books that Rick publishes? Has he published any books or are they always at the "work in progress" state? 3 days on the road at a cold place. . . I would be freezing by just being there 🥶. Hopefully, Rick would find a way to fly someday, but I also can see how being afraid of not controlling it can affect since I think the WWI or WWII had flying vehicles for war, so maybe that can trigger a possible trauma? Hmmm

HAHAHA It's such a subtle detail but it cracks me alll the way up 😭 but jake is okay so it's fine to laugh hahs he's probably laughing about it too ngl, it happened to many times not to know the whole survival scheme by now 🤣 absolute chaos magnet HAHA HAHA BUT HE REALLY DOES!! i'm almost glad he didn't learn to fly or ride things around water cause he'd genuinely be too powerful, like no one would be safe HAHA, but he needs to, so many days in the car with chronic pain aint it 😫 Ohhh man, I cannot even imagine how hard it must have been for anyone at the time when that whole absolutely horrific regime was present in the world 😭 i've heard so many stories about life back across the wall and my heart just breaks, really for anyone that was affected by the horrors that were happening at the time. It's one of the things that keep me up at night, I cannot understand how humans could put other humans through so much suffering But to come back to the story, it was definitely a very fucked up time to be alive, and i'm honestly just glad Rick was very young at the time, so he barely remembers the war BUT YESSS OMG ALASKA!! its seriously one of the most beautiful places in the world to me UGHH ❤️ and it's kind of my own self insert since we at home spend our summers in the mountains around lakes and rivers, and that atmosphere is just such a soft spot to me ❤️

The reflective fire in their eyes have me DED. Lolol I laughed despite it not being too nice to laugh. I love their expressions so freaking much. I’m totally here for them hahaha. Pooor Jake. He’s a chaos magnet I swear!!! HAHHA And I just have to say that Rick needs to learn to fly a plane and drive a boat! HAHHA then he won’t be so uneasy about them! Lolol but oh my gosh. That’s so sad about him being forced to live in poverty when he REALLY didn’t even have to!! Staying in war zone area, ugh that’s so rough. My family is German and we’re on the crappy side of the wall when all of that happened forever. I heard all the struggles of poverty struggle there and wow. I’m so sad he had to, when there was another option. All because of the jealousy aspect, I’m so upsettttt. BUUUUT I adore that he’s got this little cottage!! Alaska is beautiful!! And what a beautiful way to spend the summers!! All that daylight out there!! I love that!!!
