Redefining the Schedule (and some general Patreon updates)

Hey there!

I've been inactive again for some weeks. Sorry for that. I'm still working on Beast Queen's Animations, but it seems I've hit a wall. Again.

And that's exactly what this post is about

When we reached our $100 goal, I planned the game scope and a schedule. While the milestones were quite reasonable for the time I have to spend on this project, it was simply now working. I'm behind on schedule constantly, and not just because "real life" reasons. Sometimes I would get myself to work on an animation or a specific mechanic, stare at the screen for a solid amount of time, and end the day accomplishing very little. That's why I'm starting a non-linear schedule.


Cool, but what does that mean?

That means that, while still respecting the scope of the game, I won't have a specific milestone for the week. That means that I may work on a new enemy, or do some stages, or touch-up some mechanics, or fix some stuff. Progress should still be made as fast as previousy planned, but it's not as focused as it should be.


But why is it better?

Because it's not my most efficient way of working. I need the little push that inspiration gives to do my best work, and forcing myself to work on something while actually wanting to do something else doesn't seem right. It also helps me not getting frustated with the game, which is a huge plus.


Ok, I get it, but what does that mean to me, a Patron?

That depends of your current tier. If you are a Slime or Dryad Tier patron, expect to see some incomplete sprites, animations or maybe some more small bugs on the Alpha release, but more content overall. If you are a Lamia Tier patron, expect a rougher dev-build, but with more diverse new content.


So, when will you release a new Alpha/Dev build?

Next dev-build will be released this weekend. Expect some rough stuff.

The next Alpha build will be released close to the end of this month. The following Alpha builds won't take as long as this one, don't worry.
