DanMachi S4 Episode 20 Reaction

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! I'll keep it brief, don't want to rehash much from what I said during the reaction, but the production staff deserve so much praise for what they accomplished with this installment... it was peak, truly the best the series has ever been.

Hope y'all enjoy how much this broke my heart, made me cry, and downright horrified me! Still gets me so damn emotional on rewatches, especially that "Not Meet Doubt" insert song sung by Ryu's VA (Saori Hayami)...

What did you think about this episode?

I can see why, she's definitely an all-time favorite character of mine, they treated her story arc so damn WELL this season. I loved it, as painful as it was... I can't say if she's higher/lower than Bell for me though, I do love my Rabbit Foot lol and I got so many characters I love

Ryu best girl. For 1000% sure. She became my favorite character this season over bell, harhime, makoto, and liliruca (top 5 not in that order)

I think Sword Oratoria's anime brought up several of the floors between 29th-36th range, such as the food pantry incident... so I believe I recall the conversation about the fruit, but that was also because Ryu mention it when talking about the benefits of going upwards to the 36th floor. Makes sense why I didn't recognize the 30th floor though, almost certain it's never been shown in animated form, so this does help my mental map! I believe I recall that Bloodsaurus can also spawn outside Orario, a good ways away, at lower strengths so it's easier to slay them as they're naturally occurring monsters instead of birthed routinely by the Dungeon. Volume 1 or 2 of the LN had a small sidestory that included this monster, think Bell even fought it... might have been a commission from Naza of the Miach Familia. "Not Meet Doubt" just hurts so damn much... a downright painful insert song, even when listened to separately now. For sure, definitely makes more sense with that clarification, though personally, it wasn't something that bothered me a whole lot tbh eyyy, glad my memory's still fairly good with this series! <3 Honestly, seeing them die so brutally because of the magic reflection utterly horrified me... it was so brutal, the VA really killed it for the member who was burned alive by her own magic...

In chronological order in the episode : I do agree that the implication is that the twig breaking was the last straw. Can't remember if that's in the novel or not. Here's info i found on the floor they're in : The 28th Floor is a safety point.[3] The 29th-36th Floors consist of two regions. The first one, which includes the 30th floor, is a forest area called Dense Forest Ravine (密林の峡谷). There are dungeon crops such as fruits that can be eaten. Starting from the 30th Floor, the floors are swarmed with monsters such as Bloodsaurus that are impossible for Level 2 adventurers to kill. The Juggernaut spawned for the first time on the 30th floor. For the 2nd victim, that was probably just a small animation shortcut. She got slashed horizontally in 4 pieces. Similar to Lyla at the end. I still cry when the insert song starts. Oh, and about last episode. The opposite passageway and the right hand one were connected, while the left one was a dead end. They couldn't go to the right hand one right away, because there was a large amount of rubble between them and that exit. So the opposite direction was the best choice. But that wasn't an issue when Bell went around fairly easily and came back in. It just felt like the reason they gave in the anime for why they didn't go right was a bit weak, but there was a good reason. You're correct, she did call him Bell in ep 10. It IS the first time he hears it though :P This ep really showcased how terrifying a magic reflect ability is. I feel like it's not portrayed to its full potential in most shows it's used.
