Chapter 0798: Master Ball and Diancite

Thanks to the active intervention of the International Police, the crisis in Alola was resolved.

Ash, Lillie, Gladion, and a new generation of Trainers became reserve members of the Ultra Defense Team.

Since the Ultra Wormholes had yet to close, some Ultra Beasts might still stray into Alola—Ash and the others would be needed to catch them and send them home.

Once Nebby awakened and was taken to the Altar of the Sunne to evolve into Solgaleo, their work would be done.

Until then, Natsume-sensei had a more important task.

Melemele Island, Kala’e Bay.

A gentle breeze swept the curtains through the open floor-to-ceiling window. Two people sat in wicker chairs on the terrace, surrounded by potted flowers, with a small table between them.

“Going to Hokulani Observatory?” Cynthia blinked.

“I want to take Sylveon to meet the final island guardian, the tapu of Ula’ula Island.”

Natsume scratched his cheek. “Hokulani Observatory is also a famous spot in Alola, so we can go there…”

“Dating.” Cynthia’s eyes curved into crescent moons.

Natsume’s dark eyes reflected the smile of the golden-haired beauty before him. He was briefly enchanted, then smiled and nodded.

The Rotom Pokédex spun its mechanical arms, levitating between them, and announced loudly:

“On weekends, Hokulani Observatory will have a 99% chance of a comet meteor shower, Rotom!”

“Comet meteor shower…” Cynthia’s gray eyes flickered, recalling her first date with Natsume.

The Wishing Star of Seven Nights, Garchomp’s Draco Meteor, Sylveon’s evolution—

Their paths seemed intimately tied to falling stars.

“Maybe there’s a Jirachi among the comets,” Natsume joked.

“Jirachi only awakens once every thousand years.”

Cynthia rested her chin on her hand, stirring her pineapple juice with a straw. The sky blue blouse highlighted her delicate, white collarbone.

She took a sip, her mouth curving faintly, and said with a smile, “Still, it’s good to keep that wish—maybe it’ll come true.”

Natsume gazed at Cynthia, his eyes glimmering. He murmured, “And if my wish… doesn’t come true?”

Cynthia reached out playfully, tugged his cheek, her gray eyes sparkling as she replied,

“Then I’ll help you make it come true.”

Natsume laughed helplessly. “Do you know what my wish—or rather, my ideals—are?”

Cynthia raised her brows proudly. “Try me.”

“Not telling you.” Natsume took a sip of coffee.

“Garchomp, Swords Dance,” Cynthia said lightly.

Garchomp stood at the railing, surveying the view; it turned, crimson eyes narrowing menacingly: “Garchomp... (▼皿▼#)”

“It’s about the ‘Dragon of Ideals,’ Zekrom—the trial. Wishes can’t be spoken before they come true.”

Cynthia gave a soft hum, pushed back her chair, stood up gracefully, and called,

“Gengar, we’re camping this Saturday—please pack our luggage~”

“Gengar~” came the boisterous reply.

Leave it to me!

……

In the chat group.

Blue Oak, having heard about the Aether Foundation’s actions from Ash, frowned:

“Relying on Ultra Beasts’ power... Utter foolishness.”

Rather than catching powerful Pokémon, it’s better to breed one from scratch.

On this point, “Breeding Prodigy” Blue Oak and Natsume were perfectly aligned.

“Professor Kukui said that after Nebby evolves, it’ll draw Necrozma’s attention.”

Ash scratched his head. “Do I need to prepare anything in advance?”

“No need.” Blue Oak replied proudly, “Red and I will be arriving in Alola any day now.”

In other words, Necrozma is nothing before the eyes of Red and Blue.

Blue Oak, a “Battle Legend,” gets his strength from a confident, even arrogant aura, yet remains incredibly cool-headed in battle.

Compared to Red, Blue carries the pride of a Battle Legend. This confidence outshines even Leon, despite his “undefeated” streak.

Natsume had met Leon and understood that Leon’s fear of defeat was why he had not become a legend.

Necrozma about to appear in Alola?

Gold’s eyes lit up: “I just knew trouble would hit Alola!”

Natsume: ?

Not a word about “Natsume,” yet every sentence is all about “Natsume!”

Lance sighed, hand to his forehead.

It’s instinct for Gold by now.

But there’s a reason Natsume became a legend.

Not everyone attracts so many disasters and Legendary Pokémon...

“Not just Red and Green—Yellow and I are coming to Alola too!”

Green laughed cheerfully. “It’s a real Pallet Town team-bonding event~”

“Yellow isn’t from Pallet Town,” Silver reminded them.

“Haha, same thing~” Green said with a wave.

The least lucky of the Special edition leads, Misty lurked silently.

Yellow blushed, hugging her Pikachu, and said softly,

“I hear Alola has lots of great fishing experts. Maybe I can polish my fishing skills there.”

Natsume was slightly startled.

Yellow’s dream isn’t to fish up Kyogre… is it?

Then again, catching Kyogre is the ultimate goal for every angler.

Which meant—with both Yellow and Lana, Alola had two top-tier fishers...

With their combined skill, Kyogre doesn’t stand a chance!

Natsume raised an eyebrow.

Groudon, don’t feel bad—this time it’s Kyogre’s turn to lose face!

Iris, long absent from the chat, surfaced to ask Lance advice about the “Dragon Heart.”

Gold wiped his nose.

Seriously, not “Heart of Flight”?

Damn, I want to say it, but I’ll get muted...

But if I don’t, I feel like Durant’s crawling on me—so uncomfortable!

Gold pinged, “@Lance.”

Lance calmly muted Gold.

Gold: ???

I didn’t say a thing!

Not a word about Lance the Birdbrain, but every line’s about Flying-types!

“I've become a tournament Champion, Iris,” Ash declared with rare childish pride.

“Ash, you’re still such a kid.”

Iris said with pride, “I’m the next Unova League Champion. Grandpa Alder is giving me the Champion Cape!”

“Huh?!” Ash was shocked.

“I’ve been deep in training lately.”

Iris covered her mouth, giggling. “But Ash, can you even recite the Type charts yet?”

Natsume looked to the sky.

I swear Ash knows them inside out—

Otherwise, how would he always pick the exact opposite type every single battle!

A ping sounded; Natsume checked Steven’s message.

“Natsume-sensei, do you need my help with the Necrozma situation?” Steven got straight to the point.

Natsume was touched.

No wonder Mr. Steven is the most dependable comrade in any league.

Tempting, but there’s no need to make him rush over.

“No need,” Natsume replied with a smile. “With Red and Blue here, Necrozma should be the one panicking.”

“True,” Steven laughed. “By the way, both Red Champion and Blue Oak Champion will probably challenge you this trip.”

Natsume was mentally prepared, sighing, “I know.”

They’d been planning this battle for nearly two years. Now that he was a legend, those two big names wouldn’t miss the chance.

But most likely, he’d actually battle Blue Oak—

Mt. Silver is Red’s home turf after all. If Red scheduled a fight, it would be for Mt. Silver.

The importance of ritual!

“There’s one more thing, Natsume-sensei.”

Steven said, “Remember two years ago, during the Tanabata meteor shower in Touran?”

“Of course,” Natsume replied with a smile. “You, me, Cynthia, Ruby, Sapphire, and Jirachi camped together.”

“This is what I wanted to mention—it’s about Jirachi.”

Steven’s tone grew serious. “Due to recent time-space turbulence, some Pokémon are awakening earlier than expected.”

“And that meteor shower falling over Alola’s Hokulani Observatory…”

“There is a strong chance it's the Wishing Star of Seven Nights—Jirachi!”

That cute Jirachi, waking again?

Natsume was moved.

It’s true, Jirachi has awakened a few times even in the anime, and now Alola is holding a splendid comet meteor shower.

He pictured Jirachi soaring into the starry sky, an Eevee evolving under the brilliant lights.

Lowering his head, Natsume glanced at Sylveon seated beside him on the carpet, meditating peacefully, its soft, warm ribbon tightly wound around his wrist.

“Sylveon?” Sylveon blinked sleepily at its trainer. Natsume laid his hand on Sylveon's white back and softly rubbed it. Sylveon ignored him, closing its eyes once more.

Two years ago, Eevee had only just evolved.

Now, Sylveon was close to becoming a “Battle Legend.”

Natsume felt both nostalgic and struck by how much his ideals had changed over time.

At first, he worried for his own safety; then for money; then for his Pokémon’s health.

And in the end, he dodged none of it—

He died once; all the money he made from business went into training his little ones; he still gets hurt in battle, though his team accepts it gladly.

Compared to the legendary one-year streaks of Red, Blue, Leon, Iris, and the others,

Two years to legend doesn’t seem so special.

But what truly matters: he has so many adorable Pokémon...and someone he loves.

Natsume petted Sylveon, who purred softly, its pink ears gently fluttering.

Hokulani Observatory, on the last island—Ula’ula Island—might be where he meets the Seven Nights’ Jirachi.

Sylveon may develop “Fairy Aura” and become a “Battle Legend.”

There’s even a chance...

Natsume gazed at the Master Ball in his palm.

The purple-red ball gleamed—crafted by the finest technology, a masterpiece among items.

He pressed the button. The Master Ball opened silently, and inside, resting on red velvet, was an exquisite treasure—

The world’s most beautiful gemstone, the symbol of eternity and uniqueness, set within the Master Ball atop the velvet.

Eternal Diamond—Diancite.

Natsume's heartbeat quickened, longing and anticipation swirling like a spring whirlwind, sweeping everything away.

He gently closed the Master Ball.

“I’m going with Cynthia to Hokulani Observatory.”

Natsume spoke as if to himself, murmuring:

“I’m hoping for a reunion—with the Seven Nights' Jirachi.”
