Massive Updates, Castles, Book Progress

I've spent the last few weeks consuming inspiration for Glumdark by means of exploring tons of old castles and walled cities throughout eastern Europe. At the same time, I was writing new tables and Vil was illustrating new horrors for the book while McGlintlock was working on Mork Borg and Cy Borg Foundry Modules.

Book Progress

The book is now north of 100 laid-out pages and more than half of the illustrations are done. There are some big unknowns yet (like the cover!) but progress has been coming along swimmingly. Every piece of art Vil has produced has been terrific and the writing has been a joy.

I've been working on additional flash fiction to introduce the world we're building in more grim detail. However, most of the book consists of tons of tables intended to be consumed while planning or even during the game session.

The process of creating this thing is the real joy, so I'm not setting any hard deadlines but I suspect it will be feature-complete by the end of November. That's when I'll start reaching out to some friends and community artists about possible stretch-goal collaborations.

New Tables

90% of the writing / Glumdark work I've done recently has been for the book. But several of the tables that I thought that the book required are perfect for the site as well. We're going to be releasing these new tables once a week for the next several weeks. Patrons have access to three of them in Beta form today and another three in a few weeks (a new update will go out then):

- Histories of Kingdoms

- Maritime Encounters

- Discoveries

SOON:

- Dour Dour Docks

- Bad Jobs

- Traps

As always with tables in Beta: feedback is encouraged!

Inspiration

Slovenia and Croatia are absolutely lousy with desolate medieval castles. Some are really nice museums, but the really fun ones you've gotta hike through the woods to even find. I made a point of checking out as many of those as I could, and I was handsomely rewarded for my efforts.

This was crumbling to the ground. I had to scale a muddy slope in the rain to find it. Some locals told me later that the basement had never been found, although some folks had tried digging for it.

Really seeds the imagination, don't it?
