Well, emotions are a complex thing and they go in 2 directions. There are things you can consciously do to control, direct or influence your emotions and the way you feel to a certain extent. And there's also the reverse. Things that you feel or emotions that go through you also influence the behaviour you exhibit and thoughts you feel. And there's various processes in the body that influences all of that. An unhealthy body for example is more likely to make it feel like you lack energy, activating more negative emotions and feelings in you. This is often also furthers strengthened by many outside factors. Some might call you fat, you're not happy with the way your body looks, your lack of energy results in the lack of motivation to do anything about it, if you do end up exercising your body feels an extreme amount of discomfort and a lot of pain at first so you discourage yourself from continuing it, you try dieting but become hungry cave in not too long after starting it, many of those things make you feel angry and sad about yourself, etc. Basically it can easily result in a negative spiral of tons of little things enforcing other things, making you feel worse an worse about yourself. Was just giving it as an example just to showcase a fraction of the many complex factors surrounding emotion. I think people in general would be happier if they knew these things since they would understand themselves better and be capable of steering themselves better as well. I see too many people these days living with pretty much the assumption that they are their emotions, rather than their emotions being a part of them.
