Whitemane - preview

I was worried that it could look like "another drawing in sitting position", so I went for a different angle and I really liked the result. It offers a lot of possibilities with the lightning and mood =D

It really depends on the image, some are faster to create, some take a lot more time. But to give you some insight on my process. - First I start with the very basic idea of the character. If I'm not familiar with the character, I do some research to learn more about it. The personality, setting, universe it's from and all that, to make sure the image portraits an accurate version of the character. This is hard to give a proper timeframe because I don't really have a "sit down and research" moment. I simply take a look at those things in between my other activities on the days before I start a new image. - After that, I sketch out a very basic idea on a sheet of paper I have on my desk. It's sort of a thumbnail, kinda like a stickman. Then I let this idea "ferment" on my head over the next day(s) so I can get a clear image of what I want to do. Every friday I have RPG (Global posture re-education) sessions which I basically lay on an exercise table for 1h. Which is excellent for me to put my thoughts together for future drawings. Basically in the days I'm finishing a drawing, I'm already planning on my mind the other 1-2 drawings I'll do. - During those days, I start to collect references for the image. Scenario, poses, anatomy and all that and save on the folder of that drawing. - Then there's the actual drawing. I get that stickman thumbnail and do a very rough sketch on photoshop, which usually takes me ~5 min or so. If it involves a non-organic scenario (like this drawing), I block out the basic 3d shapes on Sketch up. This is basically to speed up the process in the scenario. This usually takes ~1h or so. - The lineart (which is this stage of the image posted) usually takes 1-2h to be completed, depending on the complexity. During this stage I use a LOT of references to get the anatomy perfectly. I try to nail all the details I want in the image, even if it's a rough version of it. - The drawing. It really depends on the complexity. But USUALLY it's between 15-20h from the Lineart to the finished image. More complex images like the Overwatch pool party took around 45h. - After the drawing, I do a small "last minute checks" usually to correct subtle things involving saturation, color values, tiny mistakes that might have happened (like a skin popping up behind a layer of clothing for example) and such. This can take 30-60min tops. - Then there's roughly 1h of work to organize the psd file, set up the recordings to generate the video and all that. In the end each image requires roughly 1 week of work.

Oh I am in absolute love with everything about this piece thus far! Her expression and facial features are just perfect, I really like the indication of her hair, while her demeanour and pose are so sexy as she casually sinks back into her chair, thighs crossed and calves elegantly flowing down, with the bare skin of her hip and thigh, the curvature of her bum too adding to her sensuality. And of course the level of detail here in her outfit and surroundings is fantastic and to reiterate, her face is just beautiful! I am so looking forward to seeing the finished version of this, this has potential to become one of my favourite paintings of yours!
