The Banshee Queen

Ok, at this point I think it's no secret that Sylvanas is my favourite warcraft character =D.

When I had the idea for this image, I was really happy that they announced the Windrunners comic 1-2 days later, so the whole image made a lot more sense lol

Since it was a very particular detail of the character, I wasn't sure everyone would get what the necklace is and what meant to the character.

Enough to say I loved working on this image and I'm really happy with how it turned out. The colors, her armor, everything =D

So I hope you guys like it as well!

Thank you! =3

Not too much in Warcraft universe (I've only played WoW some month, doesn't read any books,...) but Sylvanas look pretty coool for an undead, great work Krys ! ♪

god one of our guildies always use the toy that plays it during raid downtimes lol

Everyone go listen to 'Lament of the Highborne' if you haven't already :)

Yeah I got very disappointed with the comic. They are trying really hard to paint her as a villain. Still crossing my fingers for a plot twist, because it would be very underwhelming for the character =c And about the image, I wanted to show a more "humane" side of her =D

Thank you!

I am pretty sure that necklace is very well known to those who once played the blood elf starting area, since we as player delivered it to her. Got to say, with that recent comic I lost all hope for Sylvanas #notmywarchief also can't wait to fight her in some raid as the final boss. That's enough rambling of her story. It's a fantastic illustration. I like this setting a lot. Her necklace fits in here perfectly. Her looking at it feels like she is reminiscing of her past and memories she has of the old days. Like she said in the comic, she misses being alive. The atmosphere of what I assume is tirisfal galdes and the ruins of lordaeron is on point.

The armour looks fantastic Krys!

Thank you! I wanted to make sure she looked like ... Sylvanas. She has a more "bony" and hard edged features and like I did with Alleria, I wanted that her body matched the more athletic slim build of an elven archer. But I also wanted to make her feminine. So wavy silk hair was mandatory =D The armor was a tricky choice on which parts to remove. But in the end I wanted her upper torso/arms to be more "free". But at the same time, I wanted the armor to be bulky enough to stand out and have volume, texture and all that =) So yeah, there was a bit more work than usual, but I really liked the end result!

I think she's the most insteresting character in the game. Most characters in wow are sort of one-dimensional, while she has more depth imo. Obviously her WoW development is slightly limitated, but I ler her story since war3. She went from the Ranger General in Silvermoon, being the pain in the ass while Arthas was invading, then killed, forced to kill her own people, rebelled, liberated more people and lead them to their own path. While outsmarting dreadlords and other undead miscellania =D In wow she did have some interesting moments. And I like how she threads a line between being ruthless and flat out cruel. I do have a concern on her development for BfA because as you said, she's really being painted as a villain for all we know. So I hope there's more to it and plot twists than all of the sudden she just becomes a Garrosh 2.0. It would throw a lot of character development out of the window.

Real question, why do you like her? What's so unique about her that stands out for you? Honestly I cannot understand why people like her so much, ignore her dark design(which i like, I won't deny it), she's just a really really bad villain at this point.

Oh boy, I am in absolute love with this piece! I adore night-time colours and the multiple hues in the night sky, the textures, the greens of the woods below with the moon looming behind the clouds give this such a great sense of atmosphere, it evokes memories of running around in the Undead areas in World of Warcraft 😄 I also love purple, so an almost entirely purple character wearing purple attire is naturally going to make me happy 💜💜, especially with how wonderfully her white hair matches her skin. The level of detail in this painting is absolutely insane! Like I mentioned, I love the moon and textures in the sky as well as the woods below, while the stone structure she sits on looks terrific with the cracks in the stonework, plants growing from within and the spiderwebs clinging to it all. Sylvanas herself is just spectacular here, her hair looks gorgeous as it swirls around to one side, her darker purple face popping out from the white and of course, the level of detail within her hair looks wonderful. The textures of her skin and rendering of her anatomy really does look amazing, her face is beautiful and I love her features, her arms also look fantastic, I particularly like the rim-lighting along her right arm as well as the forms of her left forearm. And my goodness, that armour is masterfully painted, the shapes, their definition, the different textures, the colours, the patterns and details, all of it! Even the little chips and cracks throughout certain sections and how many sections overlap with the silver trim popping out from the purple with it's own shape are so well done. I could go on and on pointing out the details but there are so many that I'd best not 😂. Hopefully it's enough now to say that I greatly admire this painting and the skill that evidently went into it, truly a beautiful work with such amazing colours and atmosphere. I almost feel bad, like I can't possibly adequately describe how much I like it and how well you've done here.
