Cottonwine Lore Dump For Readers and Nerds

I've collected a bit of my unillustrated Cottonwine writings into PDFs. I haven't been able to write much lately, but I hope to get back into delving into the lore next year. When I started writing the Mistress Theressa guide, I was gripped with the fever to fill out the Cottonwine universe even more and it resulted in these texts. A few things to note:

Except for OOChistorynotes.pdf, all the texts are written by characters who live or lived in the universe, with all their cultural biases and perspectives intact. So think "flawed narrator" while reading and don't necessarily take them as encyclopedic and perfectly accurate. I prefer this style of lore presentation because it feels more immersive.

I'm presenting them now, because I realize I'm not going to have time to properly illustrate them, as I have more ideas than time. But, I still want to share them in case we have any readers who like this stuff. Some of it is sexual, but much of it isn't. It's about culture, philosophies, races, with my own OOC notes about a tentative history of the world.

In the attached .zip, you'll find the first entry (The Hermetic Account of Creation) is one I had previously illustrated here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/cottonwine-lore-108755636 You can also find a the map of Cottonwine's known world here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/cottonwine-known-109139466

For the person asking if the universe had a fox race, you'll find mention of the Rayaffi in the account of Sarjhin exporer Kajarr Pumjarri in "Beyond the Known World." There is also a description of the Victule, a bat-like race I've yet to draw, in "The Case for Spiritual Miscegenation."

If you like these, I'll share new ones as I make them going forward, and put them under the Cottonwine tag.

Please enjoy, and thank you!

Comments

I have read it. There is no much about the Joffyns (rabbit beast race), but it has a lot lore about the Wolvens (wolfs) and Sarjihns (felines).

It would be awesome if you made this into a group project getting different artists to draw pieces for them.

Nice! It looks like it belongs in Tolkien, so it will be amazing for this universe as you work with it! Keep the food work up and don't overdo yourself!

Thomas

I drew it. Thank you.

Jay Naylor

dunno when I'll have time to read them, but I definitely will. Always enjoy a bit of storytelling.

Thank you for the backstory(ies). Did you draw the map yourself or use a map maker? Very elaborate and 10/10 cartography Jay!

Thomas
