Chapter 64

One of the many changes I made to the tower included my own room. Similar to Robin, I decided to tear down the wall to the room across from mine, and combine it into one. It mattered little as there were still many rooms to be taken. Not to mention the only other person on my floor was Galatea.

And she didn’t care.

Was it selfish of me? Undoubtedly.

Did I care? No, not particularly. It was only human to want what’s best for yourself. And what I wanted was a bigger room. If anything, I think I was showing restraint. The entire floor could…

Er, I could have taken an entire floor as my room had I really wanted to. One that Galatea wasn’t on, at least.

While the rest of the Titans were eating I brought Starfire down to my floor in order to check out my room. She looked things over with wide eyes and a big smile. Admiring my decorations with a strong nod before floating to the over side.

“Your taste in the decorations is quite nice Law.”

It was unsurprising that she of all people would say that. Not because she was one of the nicest Titans, but because of the specific way I styled this room and carpet.

It was styled similarly to Starfire’s own room.

Though of course there were some differences. I wanted to keep my own style and individuality after all. There were also some things I wouldn’t budge on. Having such a nice plush carpet was already a large step for me.

Sure, it felt and looked nice, but it would need to be constantly cleaned and cared for. Not to mention getting out stains was going to be a pain in the ass. Could I do it? Yeah, but it’s not something I want to do.

“Does it perhaps look familiar to you?”

Starfire paused before looking around once more. Her eyes carefully tracing across the room with a thinking face before looking back at me.

“No, not really. It’s very homey though. Just like my own room!”

Well, that’s exactly what I was going for.

Starfire cooed as she laid down in my bed. Admiring my choice in bed sheets and mattress. Which was fair, they were both rather expensive brands. If they didn’t feel heavenly, I’d have been pissed.

It’s funny. Ethan had one talked about what a nice expensive bed felt like way back when. Only to be met with derision. I said something along the lines of ‘all beds are the same’.

How absurd.

“Oh…this is so nice…I wish I slept here.”

“Why don’t you?”

I asked, causing Starfire to raise her head in order to look at me with her wide green eyes. After a few seconds of thinking she grinned.

“Like a sleepover?”

I shook my head.

“No Starfire. I want you to live here. With me.”

She blinked a few times before looking around the room once again. This time her eyes widened even more as she took in everything a second time. Then, she started to tear up.

Causing me to be on the backfoot. I hadn’t expected that kind of response. Was it perhaps something I did? Was I moving too quickly? If so, it was alright to-

“Y-you did all of this…for me?”

Ah, I see now. It was obvious in hindsight.

“Yes.“

I didn’t have much time to react as Starfire wrapped me up in her arms and into the air. Squeezing my midsection against her in a tight hug. One that was returned.

Being so close to Starfire’s neck, I could smell the shampoo she used for her hair. It was something she took care of quite meticulously. Though she could seem somewhat airheaded, she was actually quite serious and methodical at times.

After a long moment, she eventually brought us back down to the foot of the bed. Though of course that didn’t necessarily mean I took my hands off of her.

Kissing the nape of neck, I worked my way upwards before getting to her ear. To which she seemed to enjoy if her hums were anything to go by. Her own hands were already starting to wonder.

“Will you stay here with me, Kori?”

I whispered into her ear, causing her to recoil slightly. She purposely sat on the bed, drawing me into her. It only took a few more seconds until her back was pressed against the bed. The confident and unabashed look she gave told me everything I needed to know before she even spoke.

“Of course…ah…”

My hands were already loosening her clothes in order to take them off. She was doing much the same…until suddenly her eyes widened and she flew upwards.

“Oh! Wait.”

I had to blink a few times in order to shake my mind of the lust filled haze it had been in.

“…Is something wrong?”

“No, it’s friend Raven. She asked me quite nicely to keep our lovemaking to a minimum.”

That…answered some question I had, but it also gave me an equal number of them back. Raven…wanted us to stop? AH, how stupid of me. Of course she did. Her room was next to Starfire’s. Or at least, it had been.

Which meant she would have heard everything we did. Well, that likely wasn’t going to be a problem anymore.

“I think Raven just wanted us to keep it down. Which shouldn’t be a problem now that you are going to live here with me…”

Kori’s eyes quickly returned their sultry quality as she started to return back to me. Her excitement was quite evident as we shared a kiss…before I broke away. Much to her surprise.

“Though we probably should get going. The new Titans are going to need to pick their new rooms shortly.”

Starfire pouted before following me out of the room. Causing me to smirk in amusement. I was a petty person. No matter the level of slight I would always want to even things out.

Her pout only existed until we got to the elevator. After that her trademark smile was back.

There was a strange sense of satisfaction I got knowing that part of reason she was smiling was due to me.

*~o~*

“So let me get this straight. The first floor doesn’t start on the ground up, but from the top down? And only after the living room?”

Artemis asked, questioning the Titans labeling sensibilities. Which in all fairness…she kind of had a point.

“…Yes.”

“That’s dumb.”

I didn’t respond to that. Partially because I kind of agreed with her. Despite having a hand in the initial labelling of things. None of the Titans had really thought much of it as it was very low on our list of priorities.

“That’s…fair.”

“Why don’t we change it?”

Miss Martian offered with a smile. Obviously trying to be a part of the conversation. Not that she was having trouble doing that. Most of the Titans seem to take to her quite well. Especially Beast Boy, for some reason. He seemed almost desperate to interact with her.

He had to have some sort of crush on her or something. Not even Kid Flash was that clingy.

…I think? I don’t look into his relationships.

“Can’t. Not only have we already labeled everything, but the number of each floor is already ingrained into our heads. It would just confuse us now if we were to change it.”

That answer didn’t satisfy Artemis, but she didn’t say anything further after that. We stepped out of the elevator once it hit the first floor. That is, the one right below the top floor where the living room and kitchen was located.

…Now that she had pointed it out, I was starting to see the problem.

“This is the first floor. There are no open rooms here currently. On the left is the gym, and on the right was Robin’s old room. He tore down the walls separating two of them and connected them into one.”

I explained, leading Zatanna to blink and fold her arms.

“Was he the only one who had two rooms?”

“Yes.”

I answered. He was…until now.

“That’s kind of dick move.”

Artemis stated which wasn’t wrong. It was definitely selfish.

“I’m sure he had his reasons…”

Miss Martian offered. Ravager was the next to speak, which was quite unexpected. This tour didn’t really need to include her, as she already somewhat knew the layout of this place already. Though she had never actually gotten a real in-depth tour, which is why I brought her along.

Still, she wasn’t exactly the talkative type. At least not friendly talkative.

“Robin’s not here anymore, right? So, isn’t his room technically open?”

That got a few looks from the new girls who then waited for me to speak.

“…No. His room will need to be fixed up and split into two again before it’s offered. Not to mention it hasn’t been cleaned up.”

Ravager scoffed before folding her arms. The other Titans said nothing. Causing me to narrow my eyes for a moment. Becoming briefly lost in thought before shaking myself out of it.

Then I pointed to the showers on the opposite side of the floor.

“These are one of three pairs of showers in the Tower. Feel free to use this one after you’ve worked up a sweat, or just don’t want anyone to walk in on you. No one really uses this one after all.”

My eyes drifted to Zatanna who was lifting her hand up like this was school. Thought she quickly dropped it with a blush when everyone was staring at her in surprise. With Ravager huffing in amusement.

“…what do you mean by three pairs of showers?”

Ah, right.

“We have communal baths and showers here at the Tower. Don’t worry, everything’s kept really clean and sanitized, not to mention they’re pretty nice. There’s one on the first floor, which is this one. There’s another that’s shared between the second and third floor, and a third that shared between the fourth and fifth floor.”

Artemis frowned, while Ravager and Miss Martian nodded along. Seemingly not caring about that fact. While Artemis didn’t seem too happy about it, she didn’t care enough to bring it up. Zatanna on the other hand seemed a bit embarrassed, and continued her line of questioning.

“U-uh, which one has the most guys?”

Ah, she was self-conscious. After having spent so much time in juvie and the Tower, I’ve forgotten about those kinds of worries.

“Third and fourth floors. There’s only one guy on the second and third floor.”

“And who’s that?”

“Me.”

I answered, before moving to the elevator and pressing the button. Leading us to the next floor.

“This is the second floor. Raven lives here, and Starfire used to.”

“Used to?”

Miss Martian asked, before seeing Starfire herself in the hallway. She was putting boxes outside of her room. Likely full of clothes and other items that she planned to move into my room. Starfire waved at me and the group before going back to what she was doing.

“Is anyone in this room?”

Zatanna asked, pointing to the one next to the elevator on the right side. I shook my head in the negative. Which she nodded at. Putting a more confident look on her face at that answer.

“Then I’ll take it!”

“Then I’ll take the room across from it.”

Artemis spoke up, which caught Zatanna’s attention. Artemis simply stared at Zatanna with crossed arms.

“What? You’re pretty cool and Raven seems pretty quiet. Not to mention I don’t want to risk getting saddled next to fucking Kid Flash…”

Artemis stated that last bit through gritted teeth. An obvious edge to her words. It was rather unfortunate that there was already a bit of a rivalry forming there. Well, I guess as long as it doesn’t get blown out of proportion it’s fine. I was lucky enough that there wasn’t any animosity so far between the new Titans and the old.

Though a good reason for that is likely because they were all approved.

We then moved to the third floor.

“The right side is my room. And there’s only one empty room on the left. The one in the back belongs to Galatea.”

I couldn’t help but notice that no one some eager to take that empty room. Fair enough, Galatea could be…difficult. Though Miss Martian was quick enough to connect the dots in my words.

“You said the right side was your room…does that mean you connected two of them like Robin?”

“Yep.”

I answered. To which Artemis grimaced at before looking away. Likely thinking she had indirectly insulted me. Not that I really cared one way or the other. She was factually right, and she hadn’t just said it to insult me, so there was no reason to take offense.

Even so, Ravager seemed to enjoy Artemis’s suffering. Looking at the green archer with a devilish smirk. Miss Martian looked around with a frown on her face and Zatanna was pretty neutral.

So, we continued to the next floor.

“This is the fourth floor. Where Kid Flash and Aqualad stay. Or at least, where Aqualad had stayed.”

“What happened to him?”

Zatanna asked.

“He went back to Atlantis to be with the girl he likes.”

That a collective hum with one of the girls commenting that was sweet. I wasn’t sure who said it but I knew for a fact it wasn’t Ravager. Ravager cracked her neck before pointing to one of the empty rooms.

“Alright then. I’ll be staying here.”

Her response got a look of shock and revulsion from Artemis.

“Really? You want to be on the same floor as Kid Flash?”

“Don’t really care personally, but I sure as shit am not going to share a floor with the green kid and Cyborg.”

Personally, I found it amusing how she referred to Beast Boy as ‘the green kid’, but Cyborg was referred to by his name. Showcasing a level of respect that wasn’t offered to Beast Boy.

Artemis scrunched up her nose but didn’t say anything further. Which lead us down to the last floor. Well, the last floor for actual rooms to live in, at least.

“This is the fifth floor. Cyborg lives in the room to the immediate right, and Beast Boy lives there in the back left.”

Miss Martian hummed before going into the room on the left which was empty. And by going in, I mean she phased through it. Goddamn were her powers stupidly good. If the Martians ever attacked Earth we’d all fucking die. Like, how do you even beat that?

“I’ll take this one!”

Great, and that made four for four. All that was left was for them to get their bags and start decorating their rooms up. Then they’d probably crash and be ready for the next day as their first real day as a Titan.

…Come to think of it, I probably need to expand the round conference room table a bit. Perhaps I could customize their seats as well? But then that would require an actual seating arrangement…

Hmm. Something to think about, at least.
