The first $10 tier sketch post will occur tomorrow! Consider joining if you're interested!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read and reply to my previous post. I accidentally wrote too much again, so here's a brief summary on how I've decided to proceed. Read the full post if you want more details!
-I'm switching to making games
-Weekly posts will continue as usual
-$5 tier is replacing $3 tier, but current $3 subscribers can stay for a couple months or so
-$5 tier will include something that involves voting (will expand on it when it's ready)
-Other than that, I'm not doing voting and submissions anymore
-$10 tier will get weekly sketch posts
There was little to no pushback on scrapping the backlog and switching my main focus to games, so I'll be doing that! Weekly posts will continue with drawings, animations, or small things I can put in the theater. Updates on game development will be sporadic, and only come when I have something specific to say. I don't like revealing much until it's done!
I'm very grateful that some of you felt that the price increase would be warranted, though it's still a tough decision. After I made the post, I realized that you can "unpublish" a patreon tier, which makes it unavailable to new patrons, while still keeping it internally. So, I've decided to unpublish the $3 tier, and make a new $5 tier. This means that new patrons will only be able to subscribe to either the $5 or the $10 tier, while existing $3 patrons can stay subscribed to their current tier... for a while at least.
I'm not fully decided on what will become of the $3 tier, but I don't intend on keeping it around forever. It'll remain for a while with the existing benefits intact, as a grace period for those of you who were subscribed before the change. At some point (1-2 months?) I will decide whether to keep it a bit longer and maybe start releasing things a bit later on it, or just remove it entirely. Either way, I will let you know ahead of time.
To make the switch to $5 feel a bit more earned, I will be starting something new, exclusive to the $5 (and $10) tier. It involves voting. It'll be a bit informal, but I think it'll be fun. It won't be on any kind of schedule, but I will post frequent updates at the start at least. As for what exactly it's gonna be... you'll have to wait until it starts, either late this month, or early next month! Or, if you like to live life on the edge, you can upgrade to $5... right now!!!
Though there were a number of you who expressed interest in contributions, I'm sorry to say that, excluding the new thing I just mentioned, I don't want voting and submissions to be a regular part of the patreon's main content. It might happen for something specific at some point in the future, but that is absolutely not a promise. It's just something I never really enjoyed, and I feel like I will both make better stuff and have more fun making it if I'm just free to do what I want to do with no strings attached.
I will be moving forward with the sketch posts for the $10 tier, which will occur weekly. The first post will be available tomorrow! To reiterate, these will be weekly posts with sketches of various origin. As in:
-sketches made for scenes/games that didn't make it into the final release
-sketches that did make it into the final release, but may have changed in some way, or I just felt like sharing
-sketches with stuff that might be a little more extreme or deviate a bit from what I normally post
-or otherwise just stuff I drew for no particular reason
Some sketches I will color/touch up a bit (at least one every post), but most will be left as is. Which means... lots of missing arms and faces! Only join the $10 tier if you're brave enough to see my rough drawings!
To clarify, these posts won't include sketches from stuff I'm currently working on, as I don't like showing stuff until it's 100% done. Sketches made specifically for certain projects will only ever be shown after the project is done.
...that ended up longer than expected, again. I hope all these changes are agreeable, and I look forward to making things worthy of your support. Thank you!
