Yess I knew you would understand and sympathize with Aang's POV right off the bat. It's easy for first time viewers especially to simply be irritated with Aang's attitude, but like you said, it shows a huge depth of character. He and Appa survived a damn genocide together. Losing him brings up all of that grief for his people and everyone he knew growing up. I think we and the rest of the gang see Aang and Appa as just a really close owner/pet relationship since Appa is an animal, but theyre more on the level of siblings, with an added spiritual connection as well as the trauma bond. And yeah I think the rest of the gang would have reacted more strongly if it were a human member of their group that had been taken. Nothing at all against them for that, but I can see why that would make Aang really upset and defensive

2021-09-13 06:50:55 +0000 UTCZach Tyler Eisen did SUCH a good job voicing Aang in this episode. I mean he's 10/10 throughout the series, but the despair and anger he conveys here is just outstanding.
