You're right that Nadia was treated horribly, and it is grossly unfair that what is essentially a sexual assault is played for laughs. "it was the '90s" does explain WHY it was played for laughs, but that doesn't make it okay. Despite the film resting firmly in the sex comedy, gross-out humor genre -- and it's never ashamed of that -- I was always fascinated at the maturity it showed when it came to sex itself. None of the boys got what they expected from having sex. It didn't turn them into Men overnight. It didn't fulfill them. It didn't exist solely for THEIR pleasure, or to serve as a milestone. The couple that was in a relationship broke up after having sex, but it wasn't because they had sex, it's because their lives are going in two different directions. The couple that had sex when they first got together is apparently going to stay together, but again not because they had sex, it's because they are changing themselves to be together. One of them had a one-night stand, but it was at her instigation, not because he "won" or "convinced her". Even a lot of modern films can't get this level of emotional honesty. If you want to do a direct follow-up, there's the parody "Not Another Teen Movie". It satirizes a LOT of teen comedies from the '80s and '90s, much like "Scary Movie" mocked "Scream" and the slasher genre as a whole. It's a stupid movie, but if you know all the references it will get you laughing.

One thing I hadn't recognized until a little while ago was that... Jim's dad. Never went nuts over much about anything (especially the pie thing which would be a family punch line for... decades). Although cringingly awkward, he behaved as a first-class wingman for Jim at times. And we got to see a little of where Jim inherited his dance moves from... This was so much fun.

"This one time at band camp" got a lot of ironic usage, when I was in high school marching band and we had band camp every summer. There are some minor differences between the R rated and Unrated versions of this film, the main one being that in the Unrated version; Jim is horizontal on top of the counter with the warm apple pie. A fun comedy in this vein, I would recommend is "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (2008) starring Kristen Bell, Jason Segel, and Mila Kunis

James Smith

Whilst it didn’t originate here, the term MILF became a common acronym as a result of this film

Martin Gardner

Not Cassanova?
