"You're Welcome"

Angel: 5x12 Full Reaction

21 years and I still haven't forgiven Joss Whedon for Cordelia's departure from the show.

Douglas Robertson

One random but small callback I really like in this is the demon blood slave's appearance and the comment that he'd been feeding off the toner fluid in the copy room, presumably ever since the Halloween party. Which means the guy who got beaten to death in episode 8 for not replacing the toner wasn't actually to blame for it.

i know!!! love the detail

A great episode, even if it does demonstrate what's been missing in the show since the end of Season 3. Cordelia was always The Heart and the show can never be the same without her.

It's not related to this episode specifically, but something to keep in mind about the Powers That Be is that we -- both "we the audience" and "we the characters" -- still don't KNOW anything about them. We've never met them. Never spoken to them. Never read their Mission Statement or got details about their past history. We don't know if they're demons-turned-good or angels or gods or God. All we have...is Faith. And Belief. We have Faith that they're on the side of Good. We Believe that they want to help us. But we don't KNOW that. It's possible that they're evil and simply a lot smarter about it than the Senior Partners at W&H. It could be that they're not so much "evil" as uncaring and are working towards some goal we can't comprehend. I could think up a lot of actually-evil rationales for all of the good that they've had us do all series long. We'll likely never know The Truth. It's possible that it WAS the Senior Partners who had a simulacrum of Cordelia walking around today, or some manifestation of the First that could be touched, or some sort of shapeshifting demon, or who-knows-what-else. But we have to Believe that it was really Cordelia, and have Faith that TPTB sent her to help Angel on his path. Because Angel HAS done good with their help, and that has value in and of itself.

On the outro: "It doesn't really matter where you end up; it's just that you remain intact with who you really are... 'No matter where you are, you can rise above...'" No spoilers, but all there is to say about the rest of final "Angel" is: *hold on* to *that feeling*...

Such a perfect episode, that still makes me cry to this day ❤️ Happy 100th! It's so satisfying to see Cordy renew Angel's self-confidence - I truly think she's the only one who possibly could. As you said, the two of them had such a special bond, including but not limited to their romantic connection. It just breaks my heart that this is how Cordy's story ends. It's a great send-off, well-worthy of such a great character, but it's so tragic: it's easy to forget, but Cordy is only 21 at the time of this episode. RIP Queen C 💔

"I'm Angel, I beat the bad guys" and his heroic theme starts playing is a great moment. Poor Lindsey, he made the same mistake he did all the way in S1 when he was offered a better job after working against the company; he couldn’t put his ego aside and felt that he deserved wealth and power, even if it meant working for a company that would hurt kids. Here in S5, he might have gone undetected long enough for his plan to work, if he hadn’t felt the need to metaphorically spit in Angel’s face by besmirching Doyle’s good name and when Spike complained about losing his hands; Lindsey just had to mention the time that he felt he suffered an “injustice” from Angel.

So the lady in the hospital bed that Cordy was pulling the curtain around at the beginning while making the joke about being one foot in the grave, was herself.
