Upcoming Early Video, Unfortunate Housekeeping
Added 2024-11-18 14:41:41 +0000 UTCOkay, so the next early video, and the last video before DBD December starts, is something we haven't visited in a while. It's Final Fantasy X Memories! Normally it would be coming out early right about now, but I'm running a little late. A lot of my Final Fantasy gameplay footage did not immediately migrate when I recovered from my hard drive crashes last year. I had to spend some extra time last week working to recover that stuff. So please be patient, and I hope you enjoy it when I get it to you.
Unfortunately, my mental health has also taken a hit over the past couple of days. I'm going to be real with all of you. The reactions to Saturday's Daima video have left me feeling very unmoored. I admit I've occasionally struggled with low opinions about the generic Dragon Ball fan. But they have never outperformed my lowest expectations to such a degree as this weekend. Or, at least, that's the impression I get from what little I have seen. I feel like I have a responsibility as a content creator to go through the comments section and delete and block the most disgusting and hateful comments. But frankly, I don't know if I can. For the first time in 15 years, I cannot bring myself to even read most of the comments. I literally cannot bring myself to engage with my own community. I actually woke up to a comment this morning that I did read, saying they weren't going to watch the Daima videos anymore because they couldn't stand to see so much transphobia in the comments. They said if it was their video and their community, they would feel ashamed. And I do feel ashamed.
For those who are blissfully unaware, the most recent episode of Daima briefly brings up a gender variant idea for one of its species. Since it was a relatively slow episode otherwise, I decided to speculate on what that mean, and what the implications could be were that to be viewed through a transgender/GNC lens. And from what little I've seen, and from what others have told me, the result was a lot of bigotry, and that really hurts my heart. Let me be clear. This channel is not a space for bigots. It is whole-heartedly LGBTQ+-accepting and -affirming and -loving. That's not up for debate. The world can be a cruel place, but I don't want this to be one.
