So I’ve been thinking about asking a question in the comment section in that kind of got me going, so I read the comments below just to see.. it seems like the question is sort of a comment and vice versa, and I have lots of them mostly I go to AI now to suss things out. Sometimes I trick AI there’s a lot of things that AiI flumickes on, such as the battery life of my Apple iPad ,but also a lot of open knowledge. Oh my question- well i’ve been thinking about it for about an hour. I’m 60 something and realize that it was time for me to ask my doctor for an evaluation. OK, I’m thinking of a short story. The protagonist and antagonist are both autistic. When and how would each character mask and unmask , it’s not known weatherthat they have a diagnosis in the short story. they are compelled to work with each other to achieve their own ends. What may that relationship look like..?

I just sent you a message about this, but I'm leaving it here too incase someone else may know. Short story: my kids and myself have misophonia and add (suspect autism not assessed yet). My husband mocks our sensory issues and is trying to force family meal times even though we’re all opposed. Chewing noise may result in someone dying (I know that's dramatic). I need articles that have studied the benefits of ditching the traditional family dinners when they are too triggering. Anyone got anything?

Oh! Just rewatched your "5 Signs of Autism You're Probably WRONG About" where you mention dyscalculia so: answered!

My husband is not very interested in - or accepting of - my autism. I think he may be ADHD but he has no interest in pursuing that either. Lewis seems the opposite! Was there ever a time when he struggled with how you are (or heaven forbid, was mean about it like my spouse)? I realise this is very personal and don't expect an answer! However, there may be other 'mixed' couples out there who are suffering as well!

Have you heard of dyscalculia? - it may explain your left-right 'confusion' in additional to your dyspraxia, and I know loads of us have it, too. Its interesting, its like the numbers/maths/spacial-reasoning version of dyslexia and it seems like even fewer people have heard of it than dyslexia.

Yes, good question. Would compartmentalization come into this, too? I compartmentalize a great deal in order to function, so much so that i often speak/think of my diagnoses as different people. Like, autism wants cereal and sausages again today, but adhd wants to try that recipe we read in that magazine, so i try to mediate but neither wants to compromise and i end up just drinking a protein shake.

there's a questionnaire you can do to check where you fall: https://aphantasia.com/study/vviq so you could try it together to compare!

do you think visually? i recently learned about aphantasia and i think that might be me! it's correlated with autism but i know the opposite (hyperphantasia/ super visual thinking) is even more common for autisic people. where do you fall on that scale? (i'd also be super interested to see if there are others like me in this community, if you ever want to do a poll! 🫶)

this sounds like it would be more useful as a research video than one of personal commentary, but speaking as a late-diagnosed autistic -over- 40 (i was diagnosed at 50), i'd be very interested in understanding this disconnect, and why it's so severe. for me, now 54 and having recently lost my wife to cancer, i'm struggling to truly and completely live on my own for the first time in my life, almost as if i've just gotten out of highschool. half a century of accumulated personal expectations and social obligations are now in question, and consequently so is my future. that's a difficult place to be in.

Was there a point in your life where you had a misconception of autism or thought of it mainly as one of the stereotypes?

Hi :) - Currently I am working full time but have been struggling a lot, so I am thinking about leaving to start my own business. I hope it will give me more autonomy and help me live a life more suited to my needs, and I am excited but also very nervous. When you first started your photography business did you experience any anxiety about things like income uncertainty, taxes or talking to clients? If so how did you work through it?

How do you feel - and what should be done, if anything - about the severe disconnect between the experiences of those "late-diagnosed" under 40 and those above? They're massively different situations that carry the same name.

This is a question for Meg. Do you identify as an Autistic person with ADHD or as an AuDHDer? Do you feel like your identity/nervous system are shaped more by autism than ADHD? I’ve noticed that in your videos you usually say ‘I am autistic/I also have an ADHD diagnosis’. Do you think there is a reason why you talk about these two diagnoses/parts of your brain wiring differently? Thank you!
