I tied with Lewis.

I somehow managed to get 19/20 even though I can struggle sometimes with the more subtle facial expressions you tend to see in the real world. Oh well, guess I'm not autistic anymore. 🀷

I got 19/20 and I always have similar scores to these tests (whether the expressions are super fake and over the top like these, or more natural). One of the many reasons I got diagnosed so late was because I tend to read people fairly well. It's only recently that I learned that, as an autistic person, picking up on patterns of different types can be one of our very strong skills, and it so happens that it can be facial and behavioural patterns. So I am actually generally *hyper*-aware of social cues, but my struggle comes in when it comes to responding to them. My ease at assessing people's mood and my thorough learning of scripts made me so skilled at masking that it took 3 decades for me to learn the root cause of my repetitive social burnouts, depressive episodes, etc etc. Another anecdote that goes to show just how varied the spectrum is. I can't put into words how much everything in my life has improved since I got the "instructions manual" to my brain.

That's a good point! I wonder what expressions we would've done for each emotion without the examples!

12/20. I kept trying to play the game as well! I also felt like half the time the words didn’t match what I would’ve picked if I had to write the emotions.

Balljar

15/20, and that was with mimicking them myself

Jenni

I found a cheat: whenever I tried doing (making?) the face first, I'd get it right (but still 13/20 Lewis club)

10/20, but there was quite a few times, when I would have chosen something not on the list. Most of them did look very over the top and not at all like genuine expressions. Maybe they should have hired better actors. Not that I would say that I'm very good at reading expressions, as I don't really pay attention to people's faces. If the only characteristic of desire is tongue sticking out, I wonder how many times I have been giving the wrong impression, when my lips are dry and I keep licking them πŸ€”

EG

I got 14/20.

I got 13. I am completely with you on sadness. That is not how an adult would express sadness! And who is smiling when they are embarrassed?! I ended up just playing the game too, eliminating the ones I knew they would pick for the silly faces.
