An incredibly frustrating watch but your commentary made it a lot better. I felt like you said everything I was thinking. I honestly feel bad for Abbie for having a mother like Christine. I felt there were several times I could just feel Abbie being sick of her but maybe that was just me projecting. I honestly don't know if I've ever disliked someone as much as Christine. She's supposed to protect and care for her children but it feels like she's just filling their heads with her ableist and racist opinions. Hope Abbie and David have a long and wonderful relationship.

It’s just so infantalizing it makes me so mad. When serious topics are discussed, Jake Paul is only talking to Abbie’s mom. And when they’re talking about Abbie, she’s always discussed in the third person even though she’s in the same room. It’s like she’s not there, like she’s a child, a pet, someone who doesn’t know better. Even if it’s to Abbie herself, it’s not a serious topic, it’s a softer tone. Abbie has the autonomy to be included in these conversations. And even if she didn’t she should have a say with the best of her ability.
This is the biggest thing I notice about the NT audience for LOTS. They’re always talking about the cast in the third person. Even if they’re the only ones there, the one posting a video on TikTok. They treat it as they’re not the one managing the account. They don’t treat autistic people as equals.
I do like the show itself, as it offers a unique perspective on neurodivergent relationships, and I find the show quite charming itself. But there are plenty of things it does wrong.

I remember people talking to me at school the way Logan is speaking to David. A group would come over to me and say random things to me, expecting me to respond. I never knew what they wanted from me so I would just talk, and they acted like it was the funniest thing in the world. I never understood what was so funny about it. It felt like some kind of test?

the longer that podcast went on, the more difficult it got to watch. there were definitely parts that felt very icky with how the hosts were responding to abbey and david. and yeah, christine saying there’s 0 crossover between different people on the spectrum is absolutely insane. like there’s many infuriating things she has said but i’m really stuck on that one because what?! no one is denying that there are different experiences between different autistic people and that there are definitely some who face more challenges than others and different types and levels of support are needed. but to say there’s no commonality just can’t be further from the truth.

Totally agree with you on 42:40. The more sinister view is that when you kick some people out of the group and only the ones you like are left, those people are more unified. Just the ones that are out are now alone and without any support or understanding, though apparently that is not so important to Christine...

It is so bizarre to me that Christine cannot see that she is one of the people causing divides in the autism community because she refuses to respect late-diagnosed and high-masking autistic people and because she talks such bullshit.
I don't know why Logan Paul was even in this video. He added nothing to it and, when he did speak, he came across so insincere. I wouldn't be surprised if he's never seen Love on the Spectrum.
