i hate boston is definitely my number one from this album. messy is one of the deluxe tracks and it’s really fun so i’d suggest checking those out as well :)

2024-01-17 15:59:10 +0000 UTCI'm aware of cocaine use in eating disorders (which I also knew she struggled with esp during her run as Regina on bway) as I've also struggled with an ED but I wasn't 100% sure she'd actually confirmed that she had used cocaine so I just didn't wanna speak out of turn there or put any words in her mouth :) I do love that about music and try to do it with my own songs having lyrics that do make the song mean what it means to me but also have it be able to mean something different to another listener. The other way I took "addiction's strange, i loved back then what i hate today" was the way you can get kind of addicted to a person or a relationship even though they're toxic and then looking back on it and recognizing that those things you loved about that person are things you would never even tolerate now.

She said that she had dealt with an eating disorder, and she started using Cocaine because it's an appetite suppressant, and she eventually got addicted. "It's white outside, but red underneath" is a reference to nosebleeds which are common with coke use, "I can make it faster if I hurry" is a reference to coke being a stimulant, the "her" in "I still look for him in her" is coke, and she also says in the bridge "addiction's strange" which is self-explanatory, and Snow is just generally a metaphor for Coke since it's white and powdery, and it's a common nickname for coke. I get that this stuff is hard to recognize if you're not familiar with it, but I think that's what makes the lyricism in the song so powerful. It has hidden meanings, and it can be interpreted in multiple different ways depending on who's listening.

You are correct, Renee is bisexual! Pretty Girls definitely hits for me as a bisexual/pansexual woman that experience of being the "experiment" for a lot of girls that just wanna try it out or whatever words they'll use is a tricky one. On one hand, you wanna be supportive of someone who is actually curious and thinks they might be gay but on the other hand it feels kinda icky sometimes just to be the experiment. Snow Angel definitely reminded me of Queen but also Happier Than Ever by Billue Eilish with that surprise instrumental switch up in the middle. Renee wrote the song after a terrifying night out she had where she went missing for 7 hours and does not know what happened during that time. Her friends didn't know where she was nor did they come looking for her. I think this happened after a hard breakup (that's why the lyrics about a breakup are there) and is basically about the whole aftermath physically and mentally. (Some people also think the song is about drug use with snow meaning coke but I don't think she has said that. The lyrics about her nose burning but being ice cold are really the only part I think could be referencing this).
