Taylor Swift - evermore listening party

Taylor Swift - evermore listening party

Comments

You predicted midnights here when talking about T10 😨🫶

Ana

Have you listened to Willow-90s trend remix?? It sounds just like my teen years in the mid to late 90s. I love it so much!!

Tamra Krahn

I watched this whole thing waiting for Right Where You Left Me not realizing that it’s on the deluxe edition lol. The rest of this was amazing though. The sister albums are probably her best works lyrically. I was astonished the first time I heard some of these, as were you!

It’s definitely about Scott. I think the instrumental was supposed to sound like a machine to represent Big Machine to make sure people knew it was about him. Also a few fun notes/connections that I haven’t seen many people talk about is that Justin Vernon got his big break when he worked with Kanye. Also, as you probably know, Justin and Aaron Dessner have a project called Big Red Machine. I think Taylor chose them as collaborators because a large portion of both albums were about her situation with BMR and Scott Borchetta and a few songs were about the Kanye stuff. She made a lot of connections with Kanye on Rep as well, such as her naming a song Gorgeous when Kanye has a song named Gorgeous as well, so I am dying for that rerelease for the vault songs!! Check out the podcast called Dissect for a deep dive into Kanye’s first album back (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) after he disappeared after the VMA debacle the same way Taylor disappeared after the Famous video “leak”. It’s amazing to understand his lyrics and then be able to see the connections Taylor makes to them in her music. I think she probably listened to his music a lot after the incident since music is her language and she probably wanted to understand him and try to make sense out of what happened. It’s SO crazy! And I hate being the only person that sees these deeper connections because I don’t have anyone to talk about it with!

contrarian LIT?

I find that my life loving Taylor is so much easier when I don't try to piece anything together! lol! I take each song for what I hear in it, and perhaps that's only because her mind creates things that are so massively intricate, that I don't have enough brain cells to dedicate to their unraveling. I just hear my girl and feel her heart.

Marsha

hahah shame you didnt listen to the explicit version :)

ebony reece

Not you not listening to explicit version

Dorathea Josephine aka DJ.

Steven. We need the bonus tracks from Taylor’s. evermore plz

Debbie

Hey Steven, I've been holding back this feeling but I got something to say to you. When are you going to react to Evermore bonus TRACKS? I've

Jodie Dillon

Hey Steven,

Jodie Dillon

Oh, the clean version of the album? Didn't expect that

Callum Ringsy

Listening to this album from the perspective of a Queer Man, it resonates with me astoundingly. I was surprised that Steven did not see it at first during the video. But, I know Steven will eventually think of it as he is a wonderful ally and friend. The writing in these songs is so well done that many people can relate to them from many different perspectives.

Rune Guardian

"Champagne Problems" is a modern colloquial meaning 'the problems of rich and wealthy, who are able to buy champagne instead of beer'. It is a blending of the original terms, "I have champagne taste and a beer pocketbook" and "First-world problems."

Rune Guardian

HI! I just suscribes to your patreon and this is my first comment yayyy!! Your reaction to Ivy is literally me when I first listen to it. The most amazing thing is that it’s a story about the poet Emily Dickinson and her secret relationship with her brother’s wife!! Best track on the album!

Javi Kunst

If you haven’t seen it yet you need to react to the lyric video for Marjorie cause it’s home footage. And I’m sure you know about the backing vocals by now

Cassie

Why isn't this with the explicit words? I didn't know there was a clean version. Taylor singing the explicit words really delivers the song differently. Steven, please tell me you have listened to this album again with the swear words!

Jodie Dillon

Are you going to post your reaction to louis' live show here or on YouTube? PLEASE i would to see u reacting to it!!

neverfallx3

When I listen to 'closure', I like to imagine that the chaotic metal instrumentation is Taylor beating the crap out of a scooter while screaming, "I don't need your 'closure'!!!!!"

BratNDaHwz

You should react to some or all of Louis' live show!

CS

can you react to shawns album wonder?

Kenzie

Watching the lyric videos that Taylor releases on YouTube really help to understand the songs. You need to watch the Marjorie one as ut has photo and old videos of her grandmother.

Mel Saville

can you react to Harry Styles Jingle Balls 2020

maria

The backing vocals on Cowboy Like Me are done by Marcus Mumford from Mumford and Sons

Mel Saville

You should def check out HAIM’s discography, they’re really good (:

Christian C.

Also for No Body No Crime one member of Haim is name is Este! Taylor said in an interview she wrote and used her name because she knew her friend loves murder mystery. Also she texted Este a list of restaurants and told her to pick one and then a few days later sent Haim the song and asked them to be on it! Haim and Taylor are great friends. They opened for her, all four of them created a dance when Nelly came out to perform one concert, she’s vacationed with them, and of all jokes that she’s wants to be the 4th Haim girl!

Kenzigrl

At the end of Majorie you can hear her grandmothers vocals! She included them in the song.

Kenzigrl

No Body, No Crime- The best song on this album!!! They are all amazing, but this one stood out for me.

Susie Patricia

I cried too! The lyric video is so emotional!

Hannah Kennedy

I hope you checked back Champagne Problems with the original lyrics, cause it's fucking iconic

Artemis

I can't deal with the fact that "William Bowery" played piano on the track 'evermore' 😲

Rose Ellen

i think this is my favorite video to date! i wasn’t too sure of evermore on the first listen. i immediately thought folklore was better but after watching this and jamming out w u, this album is a banger!!

Kasey

You should watch the lyric video for Marjorie. It's home videos of her grandmother. Taylor is in it as well with her! I cried listening to it last night. It made me think of my grandmother.

Averi Burton

Closure: the lyrics sound more like she is talking about Borchetta (and her masters) or Big Machine than Kanye. As for the instrumental. . . . did you know Borchetta was a punk guitarist?

Robert Thompson

When she drops the iTunes or Spotify music, she also posts music/lyric videos to YouTube for the entire album.

Robert Thompson

brb can't stop crying

ashlyn v

I love evermore (the song) so much, is more like bon iver's style and it suited Taylor's voice so much. Also, Justin Vernon did backing vocals on Ivy and Marjorie too :))

Bruna Novello Fernandes

My music is amazing hahahahah

Marjorie Bellini

In Marjorie she is singing about her maternal grandmother who was an opera singer who helped inspire her to sing, and you can hear her singing at the end of the track... and she is credited on the track for background vocals... check genius.com

Cassie

Marjorie is also my grandmother's name, my favorite person, who passed away a few years ago. That song shattered me. What an amazing album.

Rachel Moore

Thank you so much for this video! I love your insights on Taylor’s writing. You really should check out the music video of Willow, it says a lot about the process of creating the album and the connection to Folklore

ShayOhMy

Thank you for always doing these uncut listening parties and posting them so quickly!! I love watching them all the way through and listening to your thoughts and interpretations and this was so much fun. Love seeing how much you appreciate this album 😊Also Marjorie is Taylor's grandmother who was an opera singer and she's credited as backing vocals in the song!!

Amy

Champagne Problems is about a guy who proposed to his girl in front of all his friends and she said no. You should check out the lyric videos on YouTube!

Taylor Sobczak

Steven! cowboy like me features Marcus Mumford from Mumford and Sons as the backing vocal!

Mal

If you use Apple Music you get the lyrics right away. Also this is random but I want to see your Spotify wrapped.

Liv R

dont worry only the first couple of tracks were edited and THEN i realized it was the edited one and changed it!

PositiveSteven
