5sos - How Did We End Up Here DVD WATCH PARTY

oh yeah I needed this

5sos - How Did We End Up Here DVD WATCH PARTY

Comments

There's a short, just under 13min Australian 60min documentary that was filmed around the same time, which is pretty good. https://youtu.be/3-frjtI7pRM

Daniela

5sos Rock in Rio 2017 thats all I gonna say

Gabriela Basso

I went to the Oslo show of this tour, and had soundcheck. Honestly the best experience of my life, and I loooooove how passionate you are about this band!! Also, Ash threw the drumsticks at the end and hit me in the head

Marthe Sophia Blix

watching this 3 times now.... in a week. love your watch parties!

Josh87

I have Calum's bass pick from the soundcheck of this show - it's my lucky charm and it's been everywhere with me! <3

Lucy Scott

There is a video on YouTube of the concert that meet you there live was filmed at if you want a visual with it :)

Amy Claire

I've held up one of those AND signs, i was in the golden circle but i don't think I'm in the video

julian kristiansen rundhaug

You should watch the 'On the record: 5 seconds of summer - Youngblood' mini documentary on Apple Music, it's about the making of Youngblood. And there's also a live performance for Apple Music on the release day of Youngblood, it's called '5 seconds of summer live: On the record'. You should check those to see more recent insights of the band :)

Fran

meet you there live is so special to me since i was there on the recording, it was my first time seeing them live <3333

Julia M

I was so excited you did this. My all time favorite part of this whole movie is Calum’s one bass note in Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me when they do the break down. Ahh heaven to my ears!!

Loups

i hope you react to BTS one day! :)

Zoe

The nostalgia for this era is so real. I remember one of their very first solo shows in the US was a tiny set in Chicago (while opening for 1D, they did these little shows on their days off) and I couldn't get tickets but we still went and stood at the stage door and the security guard cracked the door so we could hear them better and see them. We waited after the show for like an hour, hoping they'd come out and take pics with fans, but my mom got tired of waiting and made us leave. Minutes later, I check twitter and see them meeting fans. One of the best and worst days lol I also remember they used to tweet out that if we couldn't get tickets to their shows then we should sneak in and I used to come up with all these plans of how I'd sneak in and I had screenshots of those tweets in case I got caught as proof that they were ok with it lmaooo I can't believe this was like 6-7 years ago already, take me back

Miranda

I really enjoyed watching it with you for the first time. Thank you so much for going on this journey with you to discover bands I didn´t know before you started exploring them. I really like the latest album but had a lot of fun with the older stuff as well.

Claudia E.

So cool that Louis Tomlinson saw their You Tube video, gave them exposure by tweeting it, then asking them to go on 2 world wide tours with them. What a break. The boys of 1D invested in 5Sos's contracts when they started out so they want them to do well since they really like them and have a stake and get a % of what they make.

Mary

I did join just for this reason ;) Love the hoodie <3 ! The countdown and the intro were so freaking sick! Your reaction to realising Ashton is singing during End Up Here (which was the opener for the whole tour by the way) and on all the other songs is the best HAHA!! The fact that I went to this tour still blows my mind to this day!! I went to the Paris concert were the band did the "WE LOVE EU FANS" board, best concert EVER!! I can see myself in the background. I remember being in tears at the end of Disconnected!! Calum kills it!! He deserves so much credit and love and support for his part in the band, like he's so freaking talented and he doesn't even know it!! I love Calum <3 Amnesia and Beside You (back to back) just hits so freaking much live: I remember being so emotionnal (I was literally shaking) and swaying back and forth with my flashlight out!! The 5SOS fanbase is a family (of weirdos, outcasts, rejects, everyone) and I've never been so proud of my fanbase!! The European Fan Project was the best project I've ever done, PERIODT!! And see them respond to it in front of my eyes was the best thing EVER!! The atmosphere of that concert was something I've never experienced before, like I never felt so included, accepted and understood in my whole life!! I remember being on Twitter that day, seeing the picture and the video of Mike burning himself, I was so scared he hurt himself. This concert will always have a special place in my heart <3 First watchparty!! It was sick!! THANK YOU Steven, I had such a blast (re)watching the concert <3 If you want to know them more I would recommend the "cocktail chats" and Carpool Karabloke. Concert wise I would recommend the "New Broken Scene" concert which was a livestream they did on Halloween after SGFG dropped. Can't wait for some more 5SOS content!! PS: The DVD was filmed during the 3 Wembley shows they did. The pyro effects were only added for the DVD.

EverShy

It’s amazing watching this back knowing who/where they are now. You get that super proud feeling towards them. As people have said, the cocktails chats for the Youngblood album are a great time, as is Carpool Karabloke for Calm. These boys are just pure chaotic energy. There’s a 20 minute video on YouTube of their full set from Fire Fight Australia from February this year that you definitely need to watch. I’m waiting for YouTube to tell me I’ve watched it too many times.... I just miss live gigs so much.

Gemma

you should watch glory days documentary it’s about little mix

Jayana

Aah I loved this so much! Not gonna lie I forgot this cd existed even though it’s been laying in a cabinet in my house for a few years haha. It was great feeling nostalgic and rewatching this and seeing your reactions as well. I was at this tour in Amsterdam and all I can say is that it was incredible. I remember feeling it was the best night of my life and I honestly didn’t think anything was gonna top that (until I saw them live again haha) The atmosphere at that concert was indescribable and you could just feel the love everyone had for each other. Now years later I’ve been with them every step and every show they did in Amsterdam and they continue to be my absolute faves to see live. I feel like they really built a community around the fandom and they kinda cared for us as we cared for them while all growing up together, idk it’s kinda weird but very cool. This is definitely part of the reason I’ve stuck with them for so long and still love them. I definitely recommend listening to the Meet you there live album as it’s really good and I also thing you’ll be happy to hear that they still play Amnesia live. Also the cocktail chats give great info on the Youngblood album and they’re also pretty fun. As for CALM their ‘carpool karabloke’ is great:) Thank you for this reaction Steven and sorry for my lengthy comment haha.

Maryse Brink

Steven, you are going to LOVE the evolution of their live sound from this to the Meet you there Live Tour!

oanav

I loved watching this DVD again along side you. The nostalgia for early 5SOS days was STRONG watching this. I don't think I'll ever forget how I felt when I saw them live for the first time. It was an awesome experience and every time I've seen them live after has just gotten better and better. And watching this brought up all those incredible memories. I wish I could have been at Wembley when they filmed this cause talk about an unreal experience!

Casey

Loved this!! You should definitely check out 5sos Z-session, they do JBH and WYB and it’s amazing!

Emma Jóna Hermannsdóttir

This was so fucking amazing my god I enjoyed this so damn much I love you Steve your channel is so great

Channey Jppppp

Trying to support you from Australia and the patreon host website crashed for an hour or so while I was trying to sign up so yay I’m finally here!!!!!

Lyn Andrews

I love these watch parties can you please do Harry styles behind the album doc!!! 🤗

Jasmine Delgado

I loved this! I definitely wasn't in this but I was at The Forum waiting 24 hrs for tickets. This was when you saw Calum buying someone tickets. That day was insane. It was their first ever headline arena show and not only did they show up the day tickets when on sale, they did a bunch of stuff for the fans there. There was a mariachi band, they had people giving out mariachi rubber ducks and custom wristbands (that I still have), and they did a signing inside for the first couple hundred people in line. After everyone bought tickets, we waited in the parking lot and they played a 3 song acoustic set from a little stage. It was the coolest shit ever! Although the one thing that sticks out from this memory was that after they told the fans 5sos would be coming out we waited for at least another hour and a half. Back then the fans could always count on them being a little late lol. Honestly, memories like that from through the years of 5sos are what really made the fans stay supporting them.

Natalie Chedotte

this made me so happy😭😭 you should definitely react to the cocktail chats!! its more recent and its the perfect mix of getting to know their personalities and their music because they talk about the meaning behind all the songs on youngblood while drinking lol its pretty funny😂 also, i recommend watching luke’s performance of wherever you are, its a pretty special song in the fandom and that performance especially you can hear the crowd singing back and luke is in awe of it the whole time🥺 definitely a special moment and i think you’d enjoy it!

Julie

i loved this! thank you so much! I 100% belive you'd love their Cocktail Chats and their mini Apple music documentary (only like 10 mins I'm pretty sure!) but honestly great vid! 💕💕💕💕

Izabella Measham-Park

Also, their Fire Fight Australia concert is amazing and you should check it out for more recent songs live :) It's available on youtube.

Louise

Thank you for this Steven! I loved every second of it! I saw them with 1D in 2013 and 2014, but haven’t had the chance to see them on their own tour- yet! I agree that Michaels part was a bit short, I would have loved to see him talk about his anxiety and mental health (which he has talked about later on) but perhaps he wasn’t ready to share that yet here? Anyway. Loved this reaction. Thank you for always making me smile ❤️

Louise

I loved this so much! Literally just joined so that I could watch this video and I was not disappointed! Other visual 5sos content you could watch might be their cocktail chats on youtube that they released just after Youngblood came out where they talk about the process of writing Youngblood and what they were inspired by to make it :)

Hannah

Not gonna lie, I was probably one of the people who was the most impatient about this watch party and I subscribed just for it (I know, I know, don't hit me people!!). See.. I had a good reason, though. The part I was the most impatient to see your reaction about was the "The Fans" segment and, as you told us to, this is me manifesting the fact that I was in that segment. Actually.. I'm the only one who got my name out in that segment, which is still fucking nuts to me, if I'm being honest. The only people who got named and introduced were the "stars" and knowing that I was put on the same type of scale as one of my heroes, Mr. Alex Gaskarth??? Mind blowing. I wanted to come back to this comment section and explain a bit further what you might have not caught or what the doc doesn't fully explain. First of all, the live part of the DVD was filmed during the three shows they did in Wembley. Michael's incident happened during the second one and he still soldiered on and went back on stage the following day. I remember being on Twitter and being absolutely TERRIFIED that something really really really bad had happened that night and it could have been even worse, to be honest. As they explained in an interview with James Corden, the pyro effects and confettis and everything were there only in London, for the DVD. They hadn't had practiced with the placement of those pyros and everything (London was after the whole EU leg of that tour). They literally had made habits of going here and there on stage but those nights, there was literal fire (#TheStageIsLava?) at some places they weren't used to, which is how Calum and then Michael got burnt pretty badly. About Michael's life, to be honest, there isn't much more to know about his younger days. He summarized it pretty greatly: he hated school, he didn't fit with the rest of his classmates, he made friends with Calum, who introduced him Luke (didn't very much like Luke at first, then moved on thinking heh, he was okay after all) and then decided that since Luke was already posting covers on YouTube, he might as well hop on that YouTube channel too. I think he was bored out of his mind before the band and that's it. Not to diminish his part in the band's storyline, bc I absolutely LOVE that dude, but I think he didn't do much before the band and 5SOS really got him out of a narrative where he would have stayed pretty bored. The fact that this band has continously nurtured their relationship to their fans is what, I think, made people stay. Sure the music is awesome. Sure those dudes are pretty badass. But they know they'd be nowhere without the fans and that's why they always go out of their way to make sure the fans know how grateful they are. And I'm pretty much the living proof of it!! This band changed my whole life. When I started this huge European project and action, I was on my own and I immediately knew that I wouldn't be going anywhere without help. I reached out to fans from all over Europe and we got this little team of AMAZING girls who believed in my idea and made it their own. I'm still a bit sad they cut the whole part where I said I wouldn't have made it without them, because it's true. I owe it all to them and I can't take the credit for myself only. We managed to unite fans for 14 dates, across 11 countries. That was roughly 121K fans on that leg, who all trusted and had faith in this project. The whole sentence was "European Fans Are So Proud Of You And We Love You Very Much" with Paris, the last date and the one I was to, presenting the whole sentence back. That night in Paris, they decided to put me under the lights and bring me on stage, which was absolutely nuts bc I'm one of the shiest people around. But that night, they gave me something to hold on to forever, they took the time to acknowledge the work we had done, they took the time to just say "thanks" and to me, that's what I'll keep more than anything. My relationship to this band as always been extreme. I've always been VERY lucky, in the sense that I was here at the very beginning and got to see them grow up so much. Back in 2013, we were so few that it was easy to be seen amongst the sea of other people, because they always took the time to come online and interact with us. That night wasn't my first interaction with them but it was the only time I truly came face to face with them and realise that all the work I'd been doing really was worth it. I've hyped this band, promoted their stuff in my country, for so fucking long, that it feels like I'm part of their staff even though I'm not paid for it. But that's what loyalty does to you and that loyalty came from the beautiful bond they've created with us. The fact that Michael followed you on Twitter is proof of it too, tbh. And that's why the European Project got a second act on their second tour, because the team and I are a bit crazy like that ;) I probably won't stay on your Patreon for very long, because I can't afford the sub every month, but I really wanted to thank you for reacting to this. If you wanted to check what we did to keep that strong bond between the band and the fans, you can check the European Projects on YouTube. They were both phenomenal and I hold them very very very dearly in my heart, as the friends I've made along the way. Thank you again for this watch party, it was awesome!! - Marine Xx

Marine G.

You stating how doing a watch party is like watching with friends is one of the main reasons why I love your channel and your patreon! No one I know irl likes 5sos or even cares about music as much as I do so reaction channels is where I get that interaction in a way. These videos you make is like being with a friend and that's really awesome. If you want to check out more 5sos that's just them being themselves then there's their youtube channel where they have tour diaries from all their tours, track my track videos where they talk about the songs, and more just behind the scenes shenanigan's. oh and of course there's their new broken scene livestreamed concert event that they put on for the fans on halloween in 2015. it was such a great show and such a treat for those of us who had never been to one of their concerts before.

Lei

Thanks Steven! This was awesome!

Luca

On this DVD there's a "Meeting your heroes" bonus section - it's great too!

thaismontesso

You need to do the cocktail chats that they uploaded on youtube. I think there are 7 parts where they break down most of the songs from the Youngblood album. You learn a lot about their personalities as well.

Mel Saville

I have been a fan of them for years now but I had never seen the DVD before so thank you for letting me experience this for the first time with you.

Mel Saville

Please react to 5sos Carpool Karabloke!
