Overindulgence

The day Ochako got into Yuuei University was the day her life changed for the better, and not JUST because she'd finally be able to make a difference as a hero. No, more than that, the girl stepped out of a life of food scarcity and hunger, and into a world where anything she might want to eat was practically at her fingertips! The food court of the campus was immaculate, and for hero course students, ALL meals were comped in full --- this was a recipe for disaster, and yet it was a disaster Ochako was all too happy to leap into headfirst.

At first it was a little snacking here and there. Would it really kill her if she got herself a few bowls of mochi here and there? Her meal sizes were quite hearty too, wanting to build up a small reserve of fat in case there were ever a day where food was scarce. These indulgences and "preparations" built over time, though, and what was meant to be a subtle layer of padding to prepare for hardship slowly evolved beyond that.

When her clothes failed to hide her belly, and her buttons failed to fasten, that was the first sign that things were going too far. But it was far easier to request a few pairs of "civvies" from the support department alongside her requested size-up for her hero costume, and suddenly she was back in business with no fuss at all. So what if she repeated this every time she went up a few pants sizes, rather than ever identifying the actual problem?

From petite and curvy, she swelled to chubby, then fat, then solidly obese. Not a study session went by without an amount of food equivalent to a three course meal --- and that was just her "study snacks"! Her actual MEALS, meanwhile, felt like they could've been feasts for entire small families. The fact that she occasionally had to get lugged out of the food court by her friends because she was too heavy and bloated to move was WAY besides the point, clearly.

Her hero costume failing to hold up to her rapid growth and tearing every other time she put it on was absolutely a coincidence too. She couldn't be growing THAT fast from her indulging, so clearly it was on the fault of the support course students! They just needed to be more careful with how they were putting her suit together.

And the fact that she was having a hard time standing up without using her quirk on herself? That was just a chance to work out AND practice her quirk at the same time! As long as she remained mobile, Ochako justified to herself, she had nothing to worry about!

One simply had to hope that her definition of 'mobile' was more generous than simply being able to stand up...
