They were intended to look for some certain specimens that was kept there for years. Little did they know that there were one of the specimens, were escaped and lurking for them. The specimen was a living latex, which began to encase them completely. After encasing them, the living latex began to took form of statues, but as it moved them, it triggered the lab's security system, which hardens the outer part of their statue guise, further completely turned them into unmoving statues.
