Scenario A - Motoko was on a mission to investigate an anomaly on a what seemed to be an abandoned factory. As she was busy with the control panel, some of the machines inside of it went hostile, where it captured her, and turned her into a poseable dress-up rubber doll - to be sold on a hobby store.
Scenario B - While having an off-duty time, Kusanagi found an offer for a 'free weaponry upgrade'. As she was getting interested with it, she went to the place mentioned on the offer, which full of mechanical engines. Little did she know that the 'free upgrade' was to turn her into a patrol combat drone, which she just realized about it in the middle of the process.
