Woodstove, crochet, laundry… life lately is an ongoing feeling of “keeping up” and I am practicing being grateful for all of the labors of love it takes to be warm and in love. WHether that love is with my partners, friends, art, home etc etc

WOOD STOVE PHOTOS:

Recently, my friend/ landlord helped me put the “dangerous” piping back on this wood stove set up. My friends who built the kokopelli cabin truck made shit work! But according to Jerry, we really need some insulated pipe! For now we are doing small fires and it’s sooooo nice, because I have been soooo cold. Fall is here and WiNTeR iS cOmING lol.

We will use the current set up for the next week and then my partner and I are parking the truck for winter and covering it up with a plastic wrap to prevent any more water damage. When the summer weather returns, we have a ton of work ahead of us. As far as the woodstove goes, we will have to purchase insulated piping and improve the safety measures around the stove itself. The heat shield and ground around the stove are the other aspects we want to improve. Our friends’ original set up, never seemed to cause them any trouble which is why we are using it for small fires currently. But, I’ve heard too many stories about cabins and busses burning down due to woodstove set ups that aren’t built to code. These photos are from our first fire in the truck.

CROCHET :

I didn’t have a lot of sales from my last story sale of crochet, but I did get my first commission!

The brown ribbed piece is a birthday gift for a sweet friend. We both have felt a little bit of fall blues so I wanted to make her something out of natural fibers to keep her warm. I highly respect how much her family lives locally whether meat eaters or vegan - they eat as much roadkill, locally grown food, grocery story rabbit scraps, hunted, fished, and foraged foods as possible. I love eating at their house and wanted to make a gift that fit with her life. Of course I had to add a little clown ruffle from my clown heart.

The cream ruffle is the commission for a friend dealing with medical issues. I was excited for this first commission (despite others reaching out when I wasn’t ready for commissions) because she was in person & therefore able to look through all my yarn. After some back and forth, together we found a theme and textures that put a little twinkle in our sprinkle (what does that mean idk). Meanwhile, dressing up for the renaissance fair and realizing this could be a great addition to a ren fair costume.

THOUGHT/QUESTION: Should I start selling my crochet work at renaissance fairs and raves?? How do I find people who are already there and want to take some of my pieces?? (Cause obviously i dont want to do that myself)

Yellow ruff is a ruffle extension!! I am soooo stoked about it but if you crochet and you know what increasing 4 and then increasing 3 in every other cell is, then you probably know that’s annoying as hell and I AM NEVER DOING IT EXCACLTY LIKE THAT AGAIN. I wore that under one of my bb clown collars for Conan’s 50th birthday. One of my beloved bartenders at Van’s Dive Bar.

The last thing left on the cream and the brown pieces shown are the ties which are my least favorite part of making these clown ruffles. The finishing details are always the hardest! That or I hyper fixate on the finishing details and take way longer lol.

LAUNDRY: I NEED TO FOLD IT

MEMES: I should probably get a therapist again and I am thinking about reaching out to my friend who just started a private practice because she said her prices are laughable because she’s like fuck insurance barriers and fuck the establishment but you know what would be realllllly cool is societal change

Also duh winter is coming as mentioned earlier.

THE END HOLY COW DID ANYONE ACTUALLY R3EAD ALL OF THIS??? COMMENT AND LET ME KNOW BYYYYYYYE

XOXOXOXOXOXOX FOOOOT
