Fancast, funding and a new thread

Hi folks,

Wishing you the very best for the coming week from everyone at Rusty Towers!

The Magnus Protocol Fancast launches this week! The fancast is a stretch goal that was unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign for The Magnus Protocol. Join host Lowri Ann Davies (voice of Celia) and a rotating selection of guests from The Magnus Protocol cast on a livestream to listen to three episodes, chosen by backers and Patreons, and to chat and answer questions about them from the viewers!

For season one, we’ll be hosting five streams with two taking place before the end of the year, then three in the new year.

The dates for 2024 are:

The livestreams will be exclusively available for Rusty Nobles and Kickstarter backers, though we will be sharing a VOD at a later date that will be available publicly. The stream will be hosted privately on YouTube, so we will be sharing a link to Nobles ahead of the stream. Remember to hit the “notify me” button on the video so you get notified as soon as we go live!

As the fancast involves listening to multiple episodes, you can expect them to last between 1.5 and 2 hours, so there is plenty of time for you to join the fun if you aren’t available at the start time!

Once again, a huge thank you to for your support, and we hope you enjoy this season one commentary fancast!

Speaking of crowdfunding, we have two updates to share from partners in regards to their projects. Firstly, the BackerKit campaign for The Magnus Protocol Mysteries board game finished on Friday, raising an incredible $333,000 from almost 3000 backers. Thank you so much for your support – we are so excited for you to be able to play these supernatural mystery games, which Indie Boards and Cards estimate to begin shipping in September 2025. If you missed out on backing, don’t worry – you are able to place a late pledge through BackerKit’s pre-order store. To find the link, plus some information on how late pledging works, take a look at this recent update from the team at Indie Boards and Cards.

Meanwhile, the creators of The Magnus Archives Roleplaying Game, Monte Cook have made a very exciting announcement. New statements. New horrors. New lore. New resources for the GM. New options for the players. New adventures by The Magnus Archives creator Jonathan Sims. The campaign launches early next year – sign-up to be notified when the campaign launches and get an exclusive Magnus Institute patch for free with your pledge rewards! Head to The Magnus Archives RPG: Tangled in the Web page now to sign up and find out more.

Spiders crawl across the webs and dangle from threads behind the text. On the right is a mock-up of the exclusive Magnus Institute patch, which is shaped like an open book and features an owl-design. Don’t forget, The Magnus Archives Roleplaying Game is now available to purchase. Buy it direct from Monte Cook either as a physical book or a PDF: https://www.montecookgames.com/store/product/the-magnus-archives-roleplaying-game

Finally, in some good news to round out this week, we are very proud that Rusty Quill and the RQ Network have been awarded Bronze for Publisher or Network of the Year in the Audio Production Awards 2024!

A huge congratulations to the Silver and Gold winners, Stak and Resonance, as well as all of our fellow nominees.

CMO, Callum Dougherty, said this about the award:

"I am really pleased to see Rusty Quill's RQ Network pick up this award. I was thrilled to launch our Network of externally produced shows back in 2021 and see it land as an immediate hit and since then it has gone from strength to strength.

I believe the APAs are forward-thinking awards and it is great to see a Bronze award recognising the great strides a small team at a truly independent company have made in innovative marketing, ad tech, ad sales, and innovative products. Our entry featured our Instagram page, our record-breaking Kickstarter, and how we use the world's largest audio drama to help us further the reach of audio dramas as a medium.

I am delighted to get some recognition and I believe an award based on an entry that highlights the work of Marketing Manager, Hattie Quinlan, and Network Lead, Tom Park, is well deserved."

You can check out all of the shows on our award-winning network at www.rustyquill.com/shows !

Have a good week all!
