Protocol Premiere, Preview and Plants!

We have a lot to run through this week so let’s get right into it!

Firstly, the crowdfund for The Magnus Protocol Mysteries board game launches tomorrow! In this mystery-solving game, created by the team at Indie Boards and Cards, you can take on the role of an O.I.A.R. employee, piecing together clues and information about supernatural cases. As well as the board game, the team have put together some incredible add-ons and stretch goals, ideal for Magnus and board game fans! To celebrate the launch, we’re hosting a Twitch livestream tomorrow at 17:30 BST. Join Alex, Jonny and game designer Sydney to keep track of the day one funding, chat about the inspirations behind it and to get a preview of the game! Next up, we have a bit of a special treat for you all. You may remember a few weeks ago we announced a collaboration with the amazing team at Watcher, best known for the ghost hunting show, Ghost Files. The three-part, Magnus-flavoured, Hallowe’en special for their series, Are You Scared? launches tomorrow, exclusively to their WatcherTV platform, before becoming available on their YouTube channel on 17th November. However, they’ve provided us with a special, audio-only version of each episode which we can share with our Knights and Nobles tier Patreons starting this Thursday! Join hosts Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej as they listen to horror story – one that has arrived mysteriously on a cassette tape. The episodes feature Alex and Jonny as guest voices and is a lot of fun – we can’t wait to share it with you!

Now that the first season of The Magnus Protocol has wrapped, we are able to share some more behind-the-scenes assets and documents that were created as we worked on the show. We’ve collected these into a “digipack”, which will be made available tomorrow at 5pm BST, exclusively to Rusty Nobles and Kickstarter backers at the Archive Intern tier and higher. The digipack includes art assets, including maps and diagrams used during soundscaping, some very funny behind-the-scenes videos filmed during production and our first ever video outtakes, taken from recording sessions for season one. Whilst season one has finished, we are already hard at work on season two. February 2025 may seem like a long way away, but we are pleased to say that we will once again be hosting digital premiere of the first episode of the season, exclusively for early access Patreons (Knights and Nobles) and Kickstarter backers. Coinciding with the in-person celebration in Manchester, we’ll be sharing the digital premiere on Sunday 27th October at around 15:15 GMT. Please note, this time may change and that due to British Summer Time ending on 27th October, you will need to be extra mindful if you are in a different timezone when working out what time this will be for you. The Digital Premiere will include the season 2 trailer, the first episode of season 2, and a clip from the documentary we have been filming on the making of The Magnus Protocol.

As a quick reminder, we’ll be at MCM Comic Con in London the day before, on Saturday 26th October, hosting a panel and meet and greet! You can pick up tickets on the MCM website!

Finally, we are very pleased to say we are welcoming a new show to the RQ Network! Plant Murder, from the creator of Selene Aaron J. Reardon, is a history podcast that delves into the dark history behind fascinating plants, their fatal impact on infamous figures, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding their use. Did a Roman Emperor really die from a tiny mushroom? Why did the Victorians invest a deadly pear? Who in the Borgias brandished belladonna and which man-eating plants are only a myth?

You can listen to Plant Murder now, wherever you find podcasts or on the Rusty Quill website! The first episode investigates the death of the Roman Emperor Claudius and asks: what, or who, killed him?
