Monthly Blog #7 - October 2019 (No charge this month)

Hello everyone - what a month!

I moved into a new apartment, I spent about 8 days in Singapore for a holiday, I just hit 100,000 subscribers (granted - it's now November), and my computer messed up and needed a Windows reinstall during an edit. So I only had the Simpsons video release, and because of this, I didn't charge for this months Patreon. I'd feel guilty if I did.

New Apartment!
Still settling in, but with this new place it'll be much easier for me to finally try streaming. As I've said in the past, I'm planning to about 2 hours once a week on Twitch to keep it fresh and worth watching. I'm first and foremost a youtuber, but I know other youtubers who have found streaming super fun and rewarding - and handy as another income stream.

Also this apartment has a nice view and that makes me happy :)

Singapore!
A much needed holiday! Strangely, while away, not releasing videos, the algorithm seemed to bless me with the best month I've had statistically in quite a while. Which is great and made the getaway feel guiltless, but also a bit weird because it made me feel like success was a bit out of my control and random.

But it was a great holiday, me and a mate did all the typical touristy stuff like the zoo, Marina Bay, and lawdy so much good food. I also went to a gaming event called GameStart Asia and played/saw some cool upcoming things:

Cyberpunk 2077 looks amazing, as usual, though I just saw another behind closed doors demo and did not play it. I really get the feeling the driving isn't finished at all though, it just seems so scripted and hard to see anything, but otherwise this is still my most anticipated game. Also I hate how these scripted video demos are played so slowly - even during the exciting shootouts they were just walking around. Pls.

The upcoming avengers game is better than I thought it'd be. Coming off the Iron Man game myself, they still messed up Iron Man's controls with his elevation still being tied to face buttons, and he hovers when you let go, but otherwise each character controls surprisingly smoothly and are distinct enough to play differently but similar enough that it's not confusing. Granted, the level I played was the very scripted Golden Gate Bridge level we've all seen in trailers, and the very curated, scripted, high production nature of that level was awesome to me. I don't imagine the rest of the game will maintain this, so I'm still tentative, but I like what I played.

Iron Man VR is not particularly impressive on first impressions, but it's very hard to control. Playing a short demo of this didn't really show off the game well because it's clearly quite hard to learn and hard to master, but I can see it being satisfying if you do master it. I actually liked this quality to it. Oh and I only got to play the tutorial level. Jury's out.

Some upcoming videos!
I've played through Quantum of Solace PS2 for a video, and am in touch with some developers of the game to query how it all came together - which by the way, if anyone has any questions they'd like to ask the developers, leave a comment. This video is really satisfying to make because it feels more important than a usual minimme video thanks to the behind the scenes research.

I also saw that The Warriors slightly nudged out Quantum in the poll here the other day, but when I started playing Quantum it was ahead by like 10 votes. Talk about a come back! I'll make The Warriors very very soon - after all it's the 40th anniversary of the film this year.

My next video coming out is about one of my favourite games ever, it's very much a 'for me' video but I think it should do okay view-wise regardless. No spoilers but I think you will all enjoy it :)

Longer blog this time, but it's been a huge month :)

Hope y'all have been well, Q&A video is still coming and feel free to ask any last minute questions if you have them

Take it easy,
Peter
