Materials you will need for this lesson:
1 tube of brown earth pigment. Raw umber, sepia extra, anything like that will do
1 tube of white oil paint. I use lead, you can use what you like
A few synthetic brushes and a few hog bristle brushes. Mostly filbert shape
An oil or acrylic primed linen, fine weave. Approx. 30x40cm or 12x16in. It should be toned as you see in the thumbnail at the top of this post
A palette knife
A few drops of linseed oil in a medium cup
Paper towels, q-tips
Courage (painting is hard)

I am beyond pleased to see you doing these blocking with oil paint. As fate and timing would have it I just started colliding with this problem in my own painting practice and was wondering how to apply what I’ve learned in drawing blocking to oil paint. Of course you express yourself so clearly, covering the subject with your own special ease while clearly identifying potential rat holes to avoid. I would love to see more of these, Thanks a million.

When it is not possible to position the camera film plane parallel to the flat plane of the subject, perspective distortion will result. This can be corrected via hardware or software. The hardware solution is tilt-shift or perspective correction lense. Discussed here https://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/movements.htm. Software solutions are often called keystone correction occurs either in the camera or as part of the software recording process. For me I am not familiar with s/w solutions, I can only imagine that for live video casts this may become problematic. A tilt shift lense would allow you to position the camera either above or to the side of your drawing surface while correcting the perspective distortion. Perhaps some advice from a professional photographer would be helpful.
