It died!

Patron,

Last night at 12:57 AM, while I was animating, the shutter curtain on my Sony a7iii snapped. I had read before that there were cases in which the shutter had broken at 10k-50k clicks. "Most still fine well past 150k." I read tonight. Well, using ExifTool I discovered that my camera has made exactly 113,342 clicks in its lifetime. Between this project, the stop motion movie I made with Joel last year, and "My Big Show" (along with dropping it on the ground like, five times at least), it couldn't take the heat anymore. Above, you can see its final, fateful photographs. Haunting...

I'm not even mad. This camera had a good life. Repairs to replace the shutter cost upwards of $500. Problem is, I don't have the time to wait around for a month to get it back. I need to finish this thing as soon as possible. I need to recoup all the time and money spent. I don't know what I am going to do. Recently I got approved for a Capital One Venture card somehow, with a $5,000 limit. Crazy, because I am incredibly irresponsible. Anyway, I am considering buying another a7iii at Best Buy tomorrow - then racing to finish the project within the 15 day return window so I can bring the camera right back. Yeah!!! Sounds like a genius idea to me. Durrrr...

I said in my last post that it would be the final update before upload. I always make a fool of myself with these predictions. Well, if there's a will there's a way. Wish me luck folks.

Let's make this project an even bigger leap of faith!

Eric
