So, I was using Arches Oil paper and I really loved how the paint went onto it. It became my favourite surface to paint on - I also loved the opacity I got from it. The only thing I didn’t quite enjoy was the rough texture. Then I tried the Stonehenge Oil Paper because it was a lot smoother, but man, it was a bad experience. My putty eraser kept getting clogged up with what seemed like a layer of paper ‘dust’ on the surface, and my paint kept doing the same. It was an unpleasant painting experience - do you not get that from this paper?

Its a non-transferable skill, this one. Like the way a seasoned carpenter bangs in a nail in one hit while I would take ten to get it there. Just in the practice.

It seems like you use so little paint on your brush. In my futile attempts to recreate these images, I feel like the canvas turns into a gloppy soup that is too loose to apply any additional layers.

Another great lesson. Thanks again, I found this particularly helpful AFTER the block in boot camp and returning to color composition.

Lots of light is probably the best fix for phone photography. Also learn to manually adjust the exposure.

Hi Stephen, love the demo! How do you recommend photographing your drawings. Is there a way you recommend for a IPhone? They always turn out grainy, and l want to avoid that issue. Thank you so much!
