Adult Content Crackdown
Added 2017-10-20 19:38:26 +0000 UTCRight so on the 17th October 2017 the patreon 'Guidelines' were changed as regards adult producers, the terms themselves are here for your perusal:

What we have now is a lot of creators panicking, a lot of scaremongering, a lot of confusion, a lot of anger etc etc. (Allegedly) there have been page closures, others have been severly restricted (allegedly). I'm fine so far and I personally have not nor observed anyone in my pledges or follow list have these.
Despite this I have took steps in order to protect myself and patreon from any liability. Namely I have restricted nudity to patron only posts, I have posted a disclaimer on my about page (do take a look), I have ensured my profile pic is no longer a very shapely butt etc etc.
Personally I think this is being overblown and people are worrying overmuch BUT it doesn't hurt to take some steps.
I just thought I would let you know.

Censorship is a way to kill creativity and they have decided to police the contents of any adult creator on their site. Patreon makes money from every pledge to a creator, pledge $1 and Patreon charge $1.25, the extra $0.25 is called VAT.. in essence they get paid.. and I'm pretty sure the "Adult contents" bring in quite a large amount every month.. after all: Sex sales! So now all games and graphic novels have to be "clean".. no fetish, no dirty fantasy, nothing for our imagination that we could never dream of doing in the real world, or enjoy watching with real people. Animations does draw a difference. I could never watch a "real porn" with the same contents of some animated ones.. don't think I'd have to go into detail about what fetishes that would incline? My point it, with this new policy a lot of games will be closed down or changed so much that the patrons end their pledges.. and Patreon will loose money, so.. I think they shot themselves in the foot this time.

That makes me sad, I often come here to look other's creations, public posts made for showing their progress, thei ideas... now I must be at least a 1$ pledger of 20+ adult content creators I follow with interest, and sadly I haven't that cash. I'm not that kind of user who come here just to take free stuff, I come here to see other's ideas and art, to take hints for my hobby. But now I will not be able to even follow projects properly, I mean, EVERY single post they made is for adults only or NSFW, even if certain is already censored by the creator, and I won't be able to see anything? I am already imagining the main page filled with "$1+ Patreon only post", and me scrolling down, reading about nothing of what I like to create too, not digitally yet.
